Dhamaal 4 Review: A Comedy Sequel That Forgot How To Make People Laugh
Dhamaal 4 Movie Review: Big Stars, Bigger Madness, But Where Is The Real Fun?

After the massive popularity of the first Dhamaal movie, many fans were surprised when Dhamaal 4 was announced. The biggest question was simple — how did we jump from Dhamaal 1 to Dhamaal 4 when the second and third parts barely left a memorable impact? Unfortunately, this new sequel arrives with almost no excitement, no strong promotion, and very little reason for audiences to rush to theatres.
Dhamaal 4 feels like a movie that depends more on the brand name than actual comedy. If you found films like Welcome To The Jungle disappointing, then this movie may not work for you either. It follows the same formula of loud characters, silly situations, and random jokes, but the biggest problem is that the humour rarely lands.
The basic concept is familiar. A group of characters, driven by greed and the search for hidden treasure, enter a crazy adventure full of confusion and madness. This time, the story introduces a pirate-style treasure hunt with a ship, thieves, and a mysterious hidden fortune. The idea sounds entertaining on paper, but the execution feels outdated.
The biggest disappointment is the comedy itself. A comedy film survives on its jokes, timing, and memorable scenes. But here, many jokes feel forced and predictable. Simple name-based jokes, body-shaming humour, and over-the-top situations are repeated again and again without creating genuine laughter.
The film also struggles visually. The VFX looks artificial in many scenes and takes away from the experience instead of improving it. Some moments feel like they were created without enough attention to detail. Even the music does not bring anything fresh, with familiar sounds and recreated ideas replacing originality.
Ajay Devgn remains an important part of the film, and despite earlier discussions about his role being only a cameo, he gets significant screen time. The entire cast gets their own track, but unfortunately, most characters are wasted because their potential is never fully explored.
Riteish Deshmukh tries to bring energy with his character, and his exaggerated accent creates some funny moments, but the writing does not support him enough. Sanjay Mishra’s repeated catchphrases become irritating after a point. Some comedy moments work, especially a few scenes shown in the trailer, but those are also the moments audiences have already seen before watching the movie.
One of the biggest issues with Dhamaal 4 is that it tries too hard to sell nostalgia. The movie repeatedly reminds viewers about the old Dhamaal franchise instead of creating new memorable moments. Wearing similar costumes or bringing back familiar elements cannot recreate the magic of the original.
Unlike earlier comedy films where even a simple story worked because every character had charm, Dhamaal 4 feels empty. The characters are present, but the entertainment factor is missing. The movie runs for more than two hours, yet it feels like most of the best moments were already shown in the trailer.
The emotional climax also affects the comedy flow. Instead of ending with a strong laugh, the film moves towards unnecessary drama and loses the fun atmosphere it was trying to create.
Dhamaal 4 is not completely without effort. Some performances and a few individual scenes show potential, but overall the movie feels like a missed opportunity. It uses the name of a successful franchise but forgets what made the original special — simple, natural, and genuinely funny entertainment.
For fans expecting the old Dhamaal magic, this sequel may leave them disappointed. The franchise may still have the power to attract audiences, but nostalgia alone cannot replace good writing and fresh comedy.
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Dhamaal 4 may bring back memories of the past, but sadly, it struggles to create new ones.
