It seems like every piece of media has out there fan theories for it, and childhood cartoons are not exempt from that. Growing up with these shows, we think nothing of a lot of the aspects of these shows. However, that has not stopped crazy fan theories from developing.

Spongebob Squarepants

1. Krabby Patties are made out of crabs

As seen in the show, Mr. Krabs has an unhealthy obsession with money, going to great lengths to make and keep more money with every chance he gets. In the show, Mr. Krabs and his mother are the only crabs in Bikini Bottom. This theory suggests that he would have single-handedly caused the extinction of his own race and is feeding them to his customers. No wonder nobody gets to know what the secret ingredient is for the Krabby Patty formula.

2. Bikini Bottom is the result of nuclear testing

During The Cold War, the U.S. government tested 23 nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll on the Marshal Islands. This theory suggests that the exposure from this nuclear testing could have caused Spongebob and his peers to actually be mutations from radiation exposure.

3. The main characters are all addicted to different drugs

In an attempt to explain the attitudes of each character in this show, someone created this theory that suggests the characters are all drug addicts. To explain Spongebob's consistent euphoric attitudes and extreme joy, this theory suggests he is addicted to shrooms. Patrick's slow personality is described to stem from a weed addiction. Squidward is theorized to be addicted to heroin due to his moodiness. Mr. Krabs and Mrs. Puff are both theorized to be cocaine addicts because of their constant paranoia and irritability.

Watching Spongebob Squarepants with these theories in mind makes the show seem more sinister than before.

Powerpuff Girls

1. Each Powerpuff Girl is actually a fraction of one host body

According to a theory called The Brenda Theory by fantheories.com, there is one little girl who is the host body for all three of the Powerpuff girls. Mojo Jojo, the monkey villain in this series, is actually a representation of the host body's older brother who would abuse the host body, causing the host to develop Dissociative Identity Disorder. Each girl represents a part of the host.

Blossom represents a mature, calm, and sensible version of the host. Bubbles represents the host's soft, bubbly, and sometimes feisty side. Buttercup represents the host's aggressive and discontent side, stemming from the disagreements from her older brother.

2. Professor Utonium was attempting to create "the perfect little girl" to fill a void in his life

In the introduction to the show, it says "sugar, spice, and everything nice were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little girl." Then, the addition of Chemical X is what turned the experiment into an accident, causing him to create three superhero kindergartners. Why was he trying to create "the perfect little" girl in the first place?

Brought up by this Reddit post, there are many theories that can explain why this might be. One suggests that it was due to loneliness because Professor has a huge house and lots of money, but nobody to share it with. He wanted to scientifically create a daughter so he wouldn't be alone.

Another possibility brought up was that the Professor had a daughter who had died at that age and he was trying to replace her or recreate her. Another suggests that Professor is sterile and is unable to have kids.

One user mentioned how in the show Mojo Jojo had gone back in time to kill the Professor as a child. The Powerpuff girls went back in time to save him, and Professor grew up wanting to create the girls that had saved him from the past. However, the aspect of time travel makes this seem like one endless circular cycle that parallels the question: which came first, the chicken or the egg?

3. They are just normal girls playing pretend

This interesting theory suggests that the crime fighting events and superpowers of the girls were fabricated by the kids just playing pretend. Professor is not a mad scientist, just an engineer. Mojo Jojo is just their older brother. The Mayor of Townsville is their grandfather. HIM is a family member that their father has shunned, explaining why they wouldn't refer to HIM by name.

Rewatching the show with these theories in mind changes the way a lot of the aspects of the shown are perceived.

Sesame Street

1. Sesame Street is a Psychiatric Facility

This Reddit post suggests that each member of Sesame Street is suffering from different disorders. The original poster of the Reddit post suggests that Elmo is a regressing psychotic schizophrenic. As described in the post, Cookie Monster has a compulsive eating disorder, the Count shows symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder, Grover has illusions of grandeur, Oscar has hoarding tendencies and antisocial personality disorder, and more.

2. The Count feeds on the children in Sesame Street

This theory suggests that the children of Sesame Street are The Count's victims. This is based on the fact that the children in the show are never seen for more than 3 or 4 episodes. The adult cast, however, does not change this frequently. Because of this, this theorist suggests that The Count is living off of these child victims.

3. Mr. Noodle is living in hell

Suggested by this Redditor, it is theorized that Mr. Noodle is living in hell and is trapped in a small universe outside of Elmo's window that he can't escape. Elmo, as said by the original poster, "is a vengeful god, punishing Mr. Noodle for all eternity." Mr. Noodle's hell is a puppet who forced him to ridicule himself for the entertainment of children.

These crazy Sesame Street theories make this show seem less kid friendly than it actually is.

There are a plethora of theories about every TV show, and these theories are just barely scratching the surface on how wild these theories can get.
