Natasha Polis's Disney content on YouTube is a must watch!

Once upon a time... I used to love to cosplay. But since my weight gain, I have struggled to have the confidence to ever since.

That's not to say I don't believe anyone who isn't of the 'ideal' beauty standard can't cosplay - I strongly admire those who do and I hope to have their level of confidence one day. I just have to admire them from afar now, whether that be via TikTok or YouTube, but there are plenty of curvy cosplayers out there who I love and I think they are so beautiful in their versions of the characters they love.

I have compiled a list of my favourites to share with you so you can share in my love for them too!

Natasha Polis & the Plus-Size Princess Project

Natasha Polis works as an influencer who often makes fashion and Disney-themed content for over 80k followers on Instagram. This beauty created the Plus-Size Princess Project, where she gathered a group of plus-size influencers to create a photo series that shows women with larger bodies portraying classic princesses and other non-princess characters.

TayOfSunshine

Tay of Sunshine's cosplay of Dr Facilier (from Princess and the Frog) proves she’s “got friends on the other side.” This beautiful purple number brought a bit of curvacious sexiness to a character we usually see as a sinister Disney villian. Not only does Tay prove here that not only do you not need to be a certain size but you can create new versions of your favourite characters to suit your gender.

Heather Traska

Heather Traska, who describes herself as a 'Pop culture princess, little bit vintage' in her bio, lives every Disney adult's dreams on her Instagram feed with vibes from every princess you could imagine. I would love to be living her life and filling life with as much fairytale glamour as she gets but I'm more than content being among her 15k followers.

Maria Luxee

Elastigirl is an iconic, super curvy, mom and superheroine, and the epitome of the celerated 'thicc af' pixar mom. She’s the one and only Mrs Incredible. So, seeing Maria dressed as her was incredible and an amazing change from the typical princess cosplay from the Disney world and I am in awe!

Curves by Zo

Zoie dressed as Moana of Montunui is a beautiful cosplay of one of the more modern princesses. She became the icon as part of the #PlusSizePrincessProject alongside 20 other curvy beauties. She captioned her glowing look saying "Imagine seeing a curvy princess growing up, what a dream!" - and yes, it is giving us our dreams come true!

SimplyAlexei Cosplay

SimplyAlexei didn't shy away from being the seashell bra in her beautiful Ariel cosplay which is a bold move for a plus-size woman. We curvy ladies have been conditioned to believe that our bodies are something that we should be ashamed of and kept hidden for our whole lives, but it's always best to steer into the skid and love yourself anyway.

Jasmine Dragon Designs

Jasmine looks amazing as Ana from the popular Frozen franchise - but she has cosplayed so many other Disney favourites including Mary Poppins, Elsa, Merida and Cinderella. Her bio also says that she is a 'blind girl who cosplays' which makes all of her costumes all the more impressive. She captioned her Ana look saying she is 'working on all the things I still need for my massive con list. I am starting to feel overwhelmed. Till then I have a few projects lined up to have a bit of fun.'

No matter how long it takes - I can't wait...
