Casting 'IT: Part 2': Charlie Day as Eddie Kaspbrak

Day and Jack Dylan Glazer have a striking resemblance, so it'd be highly believable for him to represent an older Eddie.

My good friend, Joe Kauffman and I spend most of our work shifts talking about films and TV shows that we both enjoy and this month we've been gushing over the latest horror franchise to restart every American's innate fear of clowns, IT. The movie was directed beautifully and showed off the talent of some of Hollywood's next generation of up and coming actors.

Among these was Eddie Kaspbrak who whose neurotic and germophobic personality was brought to life by rising star Jack Dylan Grazer. It was my friend Joe who brought to my attention that Grazer's interpretation of Eddie and his overall mannerisms reminded him a lot of Charlie Day's character also named Charlie on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

It was a connection that I hadn't made until I really stopped to think about it, but it was pretty spot on. Jack Dylan Glazer's mannerisms matched most of Day's roles where he plays a more passive character, and taking on a more whiny tone.

It would be a step out of a comedic actor like Charlie Day's comfort zone to take on a horror and dramatic role but given how director Andy Mushietti seems to be intent on throwing plenty of comedic effect into this children murdering clown tale, I think it could be a breakout role for him.

Many fans - Jack Dylan Glazer included - are chanting for Jake Gyllenhaal to land the part thanks to Glazer's endorsement. While getting Gyllenhaal would be an amazing grab for the film, I feel like the casting of Day would be a bit more inspired.

Day and Glazer also have a striking resemblance to the point where it'd be highly believable for him to represent a older Eddie.
