Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Case No. 302, including the complete story, courtroom twists, and ending.

Case No. 302 Movie Explained

Case No. 302 is an emotional courtroom thriller built around love, power, corruption, false evidence, and the difficult question of whether the legal system can uncover the truth when influential people manipulate almost everyone involved.

At the center of the story is Chandu, a young man from an ordinary family whose relationship with Jabili suddenly turns his life upside down. What begins as an innocent love story becomes a nightmare involving the police, fabricated witnesses, serious criminal charges, and a powerful politician determined to separate the couple.

The movie becomes especially gripping when young lawyer Teja enters the case and starts questioning evidence that everyone else has already accepted as truth.

Chandu’s Case Begins in Court

The movie opens inside a tense courtroom where proceedings against Mantu Chandrasekhar, also known as Chandu, are reaching their final stage.

The prosecution appears to have overwhelming evidence against him. Chandu is facing extremely serious allegations, and people outside the courtroom are already discussing how many years he could spend in prison.

Among the people watching the case is Reddy, who learns that Chandu comes from a poor family and is facing charges connected to the POCSO Act.

Someone suggests that a highly respected senior lawyer named Mohan Rao might be capable of saving him.

Reddy eventually contacts Teja, Mohan Rao’s ambitious assistant.

Who Is Lawyer Teja?

Teja is intelligent, confident, and desperate to prove that he is capable of handling major cases independently.

He works under senior lawyer Mohan Rao and carefully observes how his mentor handles complicated courtroom arguments.

During one negligence case, Teja even predicts the exact strategy Mohan Rao will use to challenge the opposition’s argument.

His prediction proves correct.

However, despite Teja’s confidence, Mohan Rao still refuses to hand him major cases easily.

Mohan Rao instead teaches him through difficult moral questions, including a variation of the famous trolley dilemma.

Should one innocent person die to save five people?

What if those five people are criminals?

What if those criminals once protected hundreds of poor families?

The point is simple: legal situations are rarely as straightforward as they initially appear.

Teja will soon learn this lesson in the most difficult possible way.

Chandu and Jabili’s Love Story

The story then moves into the past.

Chandu comes from a financially struggling family. His father works as a watchman, while Chandu takes small promotional and part-time jobs and dreams of eventually starting his own event management company.

Jabili, meanwhile, is cheerful, educated, and carefree.

Their relationship begins unexpectedly through a random New Year phone call.

Initially, they constantly argue.

Jabili considers Chandu cheap and irresponsible, while Chandu tries to explain his struggles and ambitions.

But their arguments slowly turn into conversations.

Those conversations become friendship.

And friendship eventually becomes love.

When they finally meet outside a movie theater, Jabili begins to understand that Chandu is very different from the person she initially imagined him to be.

Their relationship grows deeper, and Jabili becomes emotionally committed to him.

Unfortunately, their happiness attracts the attention of a powerful man.

Mangapati Turns Their Love Story Into a Criminal Case

Mangapati is an influential politician and a distant relative of Jabili.

When his men discover that Jabili is meeting Chandu, Mangapati sees the relationship as an insult to his family’s status and reputation.

Instead of accepting Jabili’s decision, he decides to destroy Chandu.

Using his political influence, Mangapati allegedly manipulates the local system against him.

Chandu is arrested and accused of taking away a minor girl and sexually harassing her.

Multiple serious charges are placed against him, including allegations under the POCSO Act.

The situation becomes devastating for Chandu’s family.

His parents desperately try to explain that their son is innocent, but nobody listens.

Chandu is sent into judicial custody.

Fake Witnesses Make Chandu Look Guilty

Mangapati and prosecution lawyer Damodar produce three witnesses who claim that they personally saw Chandu forcibly taking Jabili from a bus stand.

Their statements create the impression that Jabili was kidnapped rather than willingly accompanying Chandu.

Another damaging claim is introduced in court.

Chandu allegedly purchased a condom from a medical shop.

The prosecution uses this detail to suggest that his intentions toward Jabili were sexual.

But the biggest problem is that Chandu’s defense lawyer appears incapable of properly challenging these claims.

Even his attempts to secure bail fail.

The case rapidly moves toward conviction.

Why Jabili Cannot Testify

Jabili could potentially destroy the entire prosecution case simply by explaining what actually happened.

So the people working against Chandu allegedly find another method to silence her.

Jabili is declared mentally unstable and placed in a mental health facility with the help of people connected to Mangapati.

This effectively prevents her from appearing in court and giving testimony supporting Chandu.

With Jabili unavailable and several witnesses speaking against him, Chandu appears trapped.

Then Teja enters the courtroom.

Teja Demands a Retrial

Despite Mohan Rao initially discouraging him, Teja files his appearance and asks the court to reconsider the case.

The judge is frustrated.

The case is already close to its final judgment, so reopening it could waste valuable court time.

But Teja argues that punishing an innocent person would represent a much greater failure of justice.

The judge finally gives him an opportunity.

Teja immediately begins attacking the prosecution’s evidence.

Teja’s Brilliant Condom Argument

One of Teja’s strongest early arguments concerns the condom allegedly purchased by Chandu.

Instead of directly defending Chandu, Teja asks prosecution lawyer Damodar whether he bought petrol that day.

Damodar admits that he did.

Teja then makes his point.

Buying petrol is not a crime.

Using that petrol to burn something would be a crime.

Similarly, simply purchasing a condom does not prove that a sexual act occurred.

Unless the prosecution can establish that Chandu actually committed the alleged offense, the purchase alone cannot automatically prove criminal intent.

This argument creates the first major crack in the case against Chandu.

The Three Witnesses Are Exposed

Teja next examines the three witnesses who claimed they saw Chandu taking Jabili away.

Instead of directly accusing them of lying, Teja questions them about seemingly ordinary details such as temple timings and their movements that day.

Their answers begin contradicting one another.

Eventually, Teja demonstrates that their version of events does not fit the timeline.

If they were not where they claimed to be, how could they have witnessed Chandu kidnapping Jabili?

Their credibility collapses.

Teja then produces a video statement from Jabili’s close friend Nitya, who says Jabili willingly went to meet Chandu.

The prosecution’s kidnapping narrative begins falling apart.

But the biggest twist has not yet arrived.

The CCTV Footage Changes Everything

During the next hearing, Damodar introduces CCTV footage from a marriage function dated May 4.

The video shows Chandu and Jabili entering a room together.

The door closes.

They remain alone inside for approximately 16 minutes.

The prosecution uses this footage to introduce an even more serious allegation.

For the first time, even Teja begins doubting his client.

He wonders whether Chandu concealed something from him.

Perhaps the case is not what he believed it to be.

Feeling betrayed and defeated, Teja considers abandoning the case and returning to his village.

Mohan Rao Teaches Teja the Most Important Lesson

Mohan Rao finds Teja and reminds him what being a lawyer actually requires.

The job is not simply to decide immediately who looks right or wrong.

A lawyer must question everything.

Evidence must be examined.

Statements must be challenged.

Every possibility must be explored before reaching a conclusion.

Most importantly, Mohan Rao asks Teja one simple question:

Did he ever ask Chandu what actually happened inside that room?

Teja realizes that he did not.

He judged his own client without discovering the complete truth.

With renewed confidence, he returns to court.

Teja Exposes the Mental Hospital Story

Teja then targets the claim that Jabili is mentally unstable.

He calls the hospital attendant to testify.

During questioning, Teja shows him different photographs and asks him to identify Jabili’s mother.

The attendant repeatedly identifies the wrong person.

The courtroom begins to understand what Teja is demonstrating.

The man supposedly responsible for Jabili’s care cannot even correctly identify basic members of her family.

Teja argues that Jabili’s mental instability has been fabricated and requests that she personally appear before the court.

The judge orders the police to produce Jabili at the next hearing.

That order terrifies Mangapati and Damodar.

If Jabili speaks freely, the entire case could collapse.

Jabili Finally Appears in Court

Despite attempts to keep her away, Teja eventually brings Jabili safely into court.

Because of the sensitive nature of the case, her testimony takes place through an in-camera proceeding.

The judge asks Jabili the question on which the entire case now depends.

What happened during those 16 minutes inside the room with Chandu?

Jabili finally tells the truth.

There was no rape.

There was no force.

According to her testimony, the two considered themselves emotionally committed to one another after hearing wedding rituals taking place downstairs.

Inside the room, Chandu only embraced her.

Nothing sexual happened.

The most damaging evidence against Chandu suddenly loses its meaning.

Case No. 302 Ending Explained

The ending of Case No. 302 revolves around Teja’s final argument.

He explains that laws protecting minors exist to protect them from predators and exploitation.

According to Teja, Chandu and Jabili’s case is completely different.

The prosecution tried to portray their relationship as a calculated sexual crime, but the retrial revealed contradictions, unreliable witnesses, manipulated circumstances, and Jabili’s own testimony denying that any assault occurred.

Teja also raises a provocative question about Jabili’s age.

She is extremely close to turning 18.

His argument questions whether human emotional maturity can really be understood purely through a calendar date.

More importantly, he argues that this entire criminal case was not truly about protecting Jabili.

It was about Mangapati’s ego.

A powerful man could not tolerate her relationship with someone from Chandu’s background, so he allegedly used his influence to destroy the young man’s life.

Is Chandu Found Guilty?

No.

The judge ultimately accepts that the prosecution has failed to establish the serious accusations against Chandu.

The court concludes that the situation presented before it does not support the criminal story that had been constructed around the couple.

Chandu is acquitted of the serious charges against him.

After spending weeks behind bars and seeing his family humiliated, he finally gets his freedom back.

But the judgment does not stop there.

What Happens to Mangapati and Damodar?

Once the alleged conspiracy surrounding the case becomes visible, attention turns toward the people responsible for manipulating it.

The court orders action against Mangapati, lawyer Damodar, and those involved in producing false evidence and witnesses.

An investigation is ordered into their conduct.

Mangapati is furious.

As he leaves, he threatens Teja, Chandu, and Jabili, claiming that his humiliation will not be forgotten.

But Jabili no longer appears afraid of him.

She holds Chandu’s hand and moves forward.

That moment completes the emotional journey of the movie.

Why Teja’s Character Is Important

Although Chandu and Jabili’s relationship drives the central conflict, Case No. 302 is also Teja’s journey as a lawyer.

At the beginning, he believes intelligence and confidence are enough to win cases.

Mohan Rao teaches him something deeper.

A lawyer cannot simply rely on appearances.

Witnesses can lie.

Evidence can be presented without context.

Authorities can make mistakes.

Even lawyers can become emotionally influenced by what appears to be obvious evidence.

The CCTV footage almost makes Teja abandon Chandu.

Only after questioning his own assumptions does he uncover the truth.

This connects directly to Mohan Rao’s earlier trolley dilemma.

Justice cannot always be reduced to an easy choice between two obvious answers.

Context matters.

Truth matters.

And every assumption must be questioned.

The Meaning Behind Case No. 302

At its core, Case No. 302 presents a conflict between ordinary people and powerful institutions.

Chandu does not have political influence or wealth.

When powerful people allegedly decide to use the system against him, he has almost no way to defend himself.

The movie therefore uses its courtroom drama to explore several ideas at once: abuse of power, false testimony, class differences, legal responsibility, young love, and the importance of questioning evidence.

The story also shows why legal representation can completely change the outcome of a case.

Before Teja arrives, almost every piece of evidence appears to point toward Chandu.

After proper cross-examination, many of those same claims begin collapsing.

Final Thoughts

Case No. 302 works as both a love story and a courtroom thriller.

Chandu and Jabili’s romance provides the emotional foundation, but the retrial gives the story its suspense.

Teja’s courtroom arguments gradually transform a case that initially appears hopeless.

The fake witnesses are exposed.

The significance of the condom purchase is challenged.

Jabili’s supposed mental instability is questioned.

The CCTV footage receives proper context.

And finally, Jabili gets the opportunity to tell the court what actually happened.

The ending delivers the movie’s central message: evidence should never be accepted blindly, especially when someone’s freedom and future are at stake.

For Chandu and Jabili, the final judgment represents more than victory in a courtroom.

It gives them back the future that powerful people nearly took away from them.
