Brandon Barash has a restraining order against Kirsten Storms.

General Hospital fans have noticed that Kirsten Storms has been absent since initially returning to the ABC soap and Maxie choosing Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) over Nathan West (Ryan Paevy). The actress usually keeps her followers updated, but has been silent in recent weeks.

According to TMZ, Storms has been hit with an emergency restraining order obtained by her ex-husband, Brandon Barash, who portrayed Johnny Zacara on GH and Jake/Stefan Dimera on Days of Our Lives. TMZ broke the news after obtaining court documents related to the case.

TMZ says that in filing for the emergency order, Barash detailed his worry over Storms’s mental health in the court documents, citing his “great concern [for her] ability to adequately care for the minor child” and also requested that she undergo a mental health evaluation.

Storms and Barash met on the set of GH and were married in 2013. Their daughter Harper was born in January 2014. The couple divorced in 2016. Barash remarried and is expecting a second son with his wife, Isabella.

He claims on May 19, 2025, Kirsten reached out to him and told him she was "experiencing delusions and hallucinations" and "didn’t think she should have the child for her parenting time."

Storms has overcome tremendous trials in her life. She has shared that she felt overwhelmed after becoming the sole breadwinner for her family at 14, after appearing in the Zeno trilogy on Disney.

She dealt with stress so severe that she lost weight and developed a bad case of acne. She broke her finger when attempting to throw out a bag of trash and has dealt with COVID-19, a cyst on her brain, and having fluid drained from her brain.

She also gained a lot of weight, but was back to her normal size when she last appeared on GH. Previously, Storms was replaced on General Hospital by Jen Lily and Nicole Paggi.

In 2025, Barash relocated to Nashville, TN. In July, Storms announced that she was taking a hiatus from her role as Maxie so she could move to Tennessee and help her daughter adjust to the changes.

“I really want to thank GH, the ABC network executives, the writers for agreeing to let me take this time,” she stated in an Instagram video. “I know Frank [Valentini, executive producer] and the producers there know my reasons and I am so grateful that they understand and are supportive.”

General Hospital did not recast Maxie this time but had the character in a coma. Some fans wondered why the actress wanted to commute cross-country for her GH role, and it appears she may have been stalking her ex.

The soap vet last posted on social media in February when she said her home system was hacked. After returning to General Hospital in January, she was only in a few episodes and was last seen in March. Some fans noted that the actress did not seem like herself.

Others now wonder if Kirsten's parents can step in and help, but she has not mentioned them in a long time. During her previous struggles, fans were brutal. They suggested the actress was anorexic or on drugs. Later, after she gained weight, fans made crude comments.

Barash claims Storms is delusional and hallucinating. He also says she has had trouble keeping apartments, even though she is a well- paid actress. Hopefully, if this is true and she does need mental health services, she will obtain them.
