The Comedy Continues

The second Borat movie starring Sacha Baron Cohen was released on October 23rd 2020 and can be viewed on Amazon Prime. This comedy film was released 14 years after the first Borat movie. (I would recommend watching the first movie before viewing the new film.)

In the new film, known as Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Borat returns to the United States, or as he calls it, “the US and A”. As those living in Kazakhstan hear this news, they want him to stay in the US as he had created an embarrassing reputation for the residents in his home country. After arriving in the US, the same approach to comedy resumes.

Shortly after Borat re-entered the US, he was easily recognized by many individuals walking by him. In fact, some of them started chasing Borat similar to how people would chase an American celebrity. Therefore, he ended up buying disguises to prevent himself from receiving this type of attention. (These disguises are presented throughout the movie.)

In addition to the new look Borat adapted, Tutar who is Borat’s daughter, also adapted a new appearance for herself. She went to various professionals in the US to transform herself to a more professional presentation. Once she had a more professional appearance, Tutar and Borat attended a formal gathering where they were eventually called up to dance in front of the other attendees. The way they danced was unexpected by those around them and resulted in some of the guests leaving the room. (You can definitely expect to feel some second hand embarrassment upon viewing this scene.)

Similar to the first film, Borat does and says things that your average American citizen would be embarrassed to do or say. However, this time he is not alone as he is accompanied by his daughter Tutar. Together, their mission was to present Tutar to one of the top leaders of the US. At first, they tried to present her to the vice president in the middle of a public event, but then the plan had changed. Borat and Tutar were escorted out of the event.

Another funny scene in the film was when Borat ended up staying at the home of two strangers during the Coronavirus portion of the movie. The stranger brought Borat to his home, introduced him to another person he was living with, and they explained the virus from their perspective. As he learned about it, Borat started taking a hilarious and proactive approach to confronting the virus. He took one of the cooking pans in the house and started banging it against various parts of the home where he assumed there was covid. From there Borat became very comfortable and began acting as if he was in his own home.

After spending some time at the men’s home, the three of them attend an anti-lockdown protest that was announced by Tutar. While at this protest, Borat ends up performing a song that was written by the two strangers. The song was well received by the protesters at the event.

Overall, if you’re looking for a movie with humor that has no boundaries, then this comedy is for you. Many of the jokes in this movie are very relevant to modern day society. The film’s duration is about one hour and thirty minutes. Throughout this film, the scenes contain hilarious content that you probably haven’t seen before. However, these scenarios are realized by Borat, Tutar, and those around them. This movie is worth watching and will have you laughing throughout. (Note: This movie is for adults and should not be viewed by younger audiences.)
