Dr. No

Agent 007 first appeared on the big screen in 1962 in the movie “Dr. No”. One of my favorite Bond actors portrayed him – Sean Connery. In this movie Bond fought against the mysterious Dr. No who was a scientific genius bent on destroying the U.S. space program. Bond gets sent to tropical Jamaica where he encounters the first lovely Bond woman – Honey Ryder portrayed by Ursula Andress. The movie included the “James Bond Theme” played by John Barry and Orchestra.

From Russia With Love

In 1963 “From Russia With Love” was released. Agent 007 finds himself battling a secret crime organization known as SPECTRE. The woman mesmerizing Bond in this movie is from Russia and her name is Tatiana. She was portrayed by Daniela Bianchi. Bond had to travel to Istanbul to meet Tatiana and fight against the enemy. The song was named after the movie and sung by Matt Monroe.

Goldfinger

The third Bond movie was released the following year titled “Goldfinger”. Bond finds himself battling a powerful tycoon named Auric Goldfinger who is involved in gold smuggling. He plans on contaminating the U.S. Bullion Depository at Fort Knox. The movie sent 007 to the U.K. Switzerland and the U.S. states of Kentucky and Florida. The Bond woman was portrayed by Honor Blackman with the incredible name of Pussy Galore. Once again the song was the same as the movie title and was sung by Shirley Bassey. Every time I see this movie it always blows my mind when I see a woman having been sprayed with gold turning into a gold statue.

Thunderball

1965 gave us “Thunderball” with the song sung by Tom Jones. In the movie Bond meets with the one-eyed evil mastermind Emilio Largo. We meet up with the terrorist group SPECTRE. They hijack two warheads from a NATO plane and threaten widespread nuclear destruction to extort 100 million pounds. Agent 007 must recover the warheads and is sent off to the Bahamas. He is joined by the lovely Domino portrayed by Claudine Auger. Unfortunately she is also Largo’s mistress.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

Agent 007 returned in 1969 in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” with the song “We Have All the Time in the World” performed by Louis Armstrong. Bond was portrayed by George Lazenby and was joined by Tracy DiVincenzo portrayed by Diana Riggs to fight against the evil SPECTRE organization in the Swiss Alps. The group’s powerful leader, Ernst Stavro Blofeld played by Telly Savalas wanted to start germ warfare.

Diamonds Are Forever

“Diamonds Are Forever” was released in 1971 with the title song sung by Shirley Bassey. Sean Connery is back as Agent 007 and must investigate mysterious activities in the world diamond market. He must fight against his evil nemesis Blofeld portrayed Charles Gray who is gathering diamonds to use in his deadly laser satellite. Agent 007 is assisted by lovely smuggler Tiffany Case played by Jill St. John.

Live and Let Die

In 1973 “Live and Let Die” was released with the title song performed by Paul McCartney and Wings. Roger Moore stepped in as James Bond to investigate the murders of three fellow agents. He becomes a target having to evade vicious assassins while attempting to close in on the powerful Kananga played by Yaphel Kotto and known on the streets as Mr. Big. He is trying to coordinate a global threat, using tons of self-produced heroin. Agent 007 is assisted by a lovely tarot card reader named Solitaire portrayed by Jane Seymour.

The Man with the Golden Gun

“The Man with the Golden Gun” was released in 1974 and the title song was performed by Lulu. Bond was portrayed by Roger Moore and found out he had to search for a stolen invention that could turn the sun’s heat into a destructive weapon. Agent 007 has to fight against Francisco Scaramanga played by Christopher Lee, a very skilled hit man. Help comes in the form of Mary Goodnight portrayed by Britt Ekland. They head for a tropical isle hideout.

The Spy Who Loved Me

In 1977 “The Spy Who Loved Me” was released. The song was “Nobody Does It Better” sung by Carly Simon. Roger Moore as James Bond drew a globe-trotting assignment that took him skiing off of cliffs and even driving a car underwater. He was helped by sexy Russian agent Anya Amasova portrayed by Barbara Bach. They must defeat megalomaniac shipping magnate Karl Stromberg played by Curt Jurgens, who is threatening to destroy New York City with nuclear weapons. Agent 007 has a most dangerous adversary – Stromberg’s dangerous henchman, Jaws played by Richard Kiel.

Moonraker

“Moonraker” came out in 1979. The title song was sung by Shirley Bassey. Roger Moore as Agent 007 heads out into orbit. His adventures take him from Venice to Rio De Janeiro to outer space. He must investigate the hijacking of an American space shuttle. His lovely assistant is CIA agent Holly Goodhead played by Lois Chiles. They are pitted against Hugo Drax portrayed by Michael Lonsdale, a power-mad industrialist who wants to destroy all human life on earth. Also Jaws is back in this movie as well.

For Your Eyes Only

Next came “For Your Eyes Only” in 1981 with the title song sung by Sheena Easton. Roger Moore as Agent 007 must help prevent global devastation when a British ship is sunk in foreign waters. The world’s superpowers race to find the cargo, a nuclear submarine control system. He is helped by Melina Havelock played by Carole Bouquet.
