Best Animation to Live-Action Films

Whether you realized the genre name at the time of viewing or not, it is safe to say that nearly everyone, at some point in their lives, has seen and enjoyed an animation to live-action movie. Whether we see a trailer, see part of or the entirety of a film, or hear about it from a friend, these films somehow find a way to introduce themselves to us on a daily basis. While everyone has their preferences, animation to live-action movies always seem to grow and/or sustain their position in the popularity polls.

Tarzan

Produced and released in 1999 by Walt Disney Pictures, this film was recreated in 2016 and directed by David Yates. Including well-known actors such as Samuel L. Jackson, who plays historian George Washington Williams, and Christoph Waltz, who plays Leon Rom, reviewers of this movie noted the beautiful interpretation of the story through its graphics. Acting alongside Jackson and Waltz are Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie, who play Tarzan and Jane.

The Jungle Book

This animated musical favorite was originally released in 1967, later to be transformed into live-action film in 2016. Among the many big names that play the voices of the jungle characters are Bill Murray, who plays the voice of Baloo, Ben Kingsley, playing the voice of Bagheera, Idris Elba, who can be heard as Shere Khan, Christopher Walken, who plays King Louie, and Scarlett Johansson, who plays Kaa. Finally, the young jungle boy Mowgli is played by Neel Sethi.

Cinderella

The original Cinderella, like the two aforementioned movies, was produced by Walt Disney Films, released in 1950. The recent remake was released years later in 2015, and starred Cate Blanchett as the evil stepmother, Lily James as the lovely Cinderella, Richard Madden as the Prince, and Helen Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother.

Beauty and the Beast

The 2017 remake of the 1991 classic Beauty and the Beast is another film well worth mentioning. This live action picture was directed by Bill Condon. Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts are among the stars that can be seen and heard in this remake.

Alice in Wonderland

A beloved fantasy tale that always had us at the edge of our seats as kids does it again with its 2010 remake. The live-action Alice in Wonderland stars favorites Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. The twists and turns of the plot as Alice goes further and further into Wonderland are as mysterious as ever with the directive stylings of Tim Burton.

101 Dalmatians

Another movie topping the list of best animation to live-action films is 101 Dalmatians. Originally released in 1961, film was remade in 1996 and directed by Stephen Herek. Starring Glenn Close as the colorful Cruella De Vil, Jeff Daniels as Roger, Joely Richardson as Anita, Joan Plowright as Nanny, and Hugh Laurie as Jasper, the live-action draws us in just as much as its original animated 1961 version.

Pete's Dragon

Another animation to live-action movie that worth seeing is Pete’s Dragon. The original animated film was released in 1977 and directed by Don Chaffey. Under the direction of David Lowery, the impressive remake was released in 2016. This emotional fantasy starred actors and actresses Bryce Dallas Howard as Grace, Robert Redford as Meacham, Oakes Fegley as Pete, Oona Laurence as Natalie, and Wes Bentley as Jack.

Maleficent

Maleficent is another animation to live-action film in need of being mentioned. The animated version of this classical childhood favorite was released in 1959 as the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty. The remake shifted the focus just a bit as it highlighted the evil fairy Maleficent, played by Angelina Jolie. Elle Fanning and Sharlto Copley are among the other actors that played Aurora and Stefan.

Peter Pan

One of the highest rating movies on this list is Peter Pan. The original fantasy adventure was produced by Walt Disney in 1953. Later, the remake in 2003 featured Jason Isaacs as Captain Hook, Jeremy Sumpter as Peter Pan, and Rachel Hurd-Wood as Wendy.
