What Has Happened To Ezra Miller

The Enigmatic Ezra Miller

Ezra Miller, who arguably became one of Hollywood’s biggest names, has been dealing with legal issues for some time now. After a smattering of misdemeanor arrests and bizarre behavior, one would hope that the 29-year-old star would get things together. That appears to be a stretch at this point.

Miller, who is nonbinary, once told an interviewer they were born in the dirty depths of New Jersey. He described his childhood years as having been “very wonderful, and magical” in a place having a high concentration of wealth and a low concentration of “human happiness.”

Miller suffered from a speech impediment when he was younger and took up singing to help correct the issue. It helped Miller to land a “grade-school residency” with New York’s Metropolitan Opera. Before the age of ten, Miller began acting instead of singing, and 16-year-old Ezra Miller dropped out of high school to pursue acting full-time. It was around that time that the young actor landed a job on a premium-cable show.

From Coming Out To Becoming The Flash

Miller came out in 2012 as a “queer” during an interview with Out Magazine.

“I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular.”

He went on to describe how he went from having “a stutter to being a totally gay little opera singer and onto being a really confused queer adolescent.”

So, when Miller was cast as The Flash in the plans for a D.C. Expanded Universe, as Warner Bros. hoped to recreate the success Marvel was having with the Avengers movies, he had the world at his fingertips, and fans were excited. Whether you’re a fan or not, Miller was a great choice to cast as Barry Allen and performed the role quite well.

The Legal Problems

As Miller’s year continued, he continued down a dark path as his life seemed to self-destruct. The most recent brush with the law involves an order of protection after being accused of “cult-like” behavior. Earlier this week, authorities attempted to serve an order of protection against Miller and have struggled to locate the Hollywood star.

The nonbinary actor, who uses the pronouns they/them, stands accused of a laundry list of abuses against an 18-year-old from North Dakota. In an LA Times report, the order alleges that Miller has psychologically and emotionally abused the young girl, who has known Ezra Miller for six years.

Since the order was granted, law enforcement has not been able to locate Miller or the girl in question to serve the order. Several of Miller’s previous entanglements with the law have been of a low-level violent nature, so the circumstances unfolding could be potentially tragic.

“If you watch the world, the cults of celebrity and the fanatics of celebrities, that’s what governs the world now. So, you’re a politician or you’re whoever, you’re just a celebrity with a fan club, like me. You know? And we’re all probably mentally ill. I watch television or the news and I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s my people. We’re all mentally ill together. Cool.”

Warner Bros And The Flash (2023)

Johnny Depp may have lost the role of Captain Jack Sparrow because of that fiasco with Amber Heard. Amber Heard may or may not be getting booted out of the Aquaman and DCEU movies. Warner Brothers may have a tougher time dealing with The Flash. What Warner Bros. will ultimately do with the Flash has yet to be decided and etched in stone. Will they replace Miller? Will they permanently shelve the movie?

All reports indicate that Warner Bros. isn’t planning to recast Ezra Miller’s role. This could change with the outcome of the current issue, but Warner Bros. is in deep with the Flash Movie, as it’s already in the can. Many of today’s movies cost over $150 million to produce. The cost of reshoots for the main character would require all of the support actors in each scene to be called back. That would drive the cost of production higher. Warner Bros. may not be prepared to take such a hit, just yet.

Final Thoughts

What was once a promising career for this young actor is shrouded in mystery. Ezra Miller’s meteoric rise is only overshadowed by a history-making fall. Others have fallen and reclaimed their lives, but it takes years. Robert Downey Jr. was once a very talented young actor who struggled with his demons, much the way it seems Miller is doing. Perhaps, if things don’t go too far and Miller gets some help, he can come back as well.

At the end of the day, as this plays out, there’s the simpler hope that Miller and anyone else involved make it through the troubling times safely.
