Logan and Daniel weren't necessarily friends, but they weren't necessarily enemies, either. During moments Daniel didn't play deviant (or even when he was), he has actually revealed an intelligent side to him, and Logan respected that. He was curious about the inner machinations of the mind that belong to that high schooler with the python tattoo. However, apart from a few interactions and debates here and there, the two had a decent system involving them staying out of each other's way to avoid any type of unnecessary conflict. Daniel was the type to have plenty of his fellow students begging for a date with him, even to the point of Remus suggesting that one of the prizes for the school's fundraising raffle should be a date with him. Though, unlike Remus, Daniel wouldn't exactly put himself onto anyone. He would tell his "fan club" that he was taken, and he would leave with another plan to ask out the one guy lingering on his mind.

Daniel approached Logan's locker one day as the last bell rang.

"Fancy seeing you here, Logan," he said with a smirk.

"Um, this is my locker. What brings you here?" Logan retorted.

"You know, the zoo has some new reptiles imported, and I was wondering if you might want to go check them out."

"Honestly, that sounds like an adequate idea. Maybe I'll call my brother, and see if he's okay with me taking my nephews."

Logan walked away with the idea fresh in his mind, and Daniel left to his locker to tally mark another failed attempt. Daniel didn't want to give up no matter how many times his mind told him that Logan was smart and just beating around the bush when it came to rejecting him.

Several school days later, Daniel went to class early and dropped off a bouquet of blue torenias, and a note on Logan's desk. As everyone else was entering the classroom, it took a few minutes for Logan to acknowledge the flowers and note, write on the note, and hand it back to Daniel before putting the flowers in a vase by the windows. It wasn't until Daniel looked at the note that he realized he was in such a haste to go through with the plan that he made several grammar mistakes that Logan caught rather than the premise of the message.

During Debate Group, Daniel decided to try again and snuck a small jewelry box into Logan's backpack. By the time Logan opened the jewelry box and saw a custom made bracelet along with a note that said "Care to watch the sunset together?" he closed the box and told Daniel, "I hope you didn't steal this," in a half-joking manner. Daniel shoved the box into Logan's hands and left the room with a disappointed expression.

The next day, Logan was having lunch and barely saw anything odd about Daniel's absence. Due to the track record, he figured Daniel made an elaborate call about being sick or having a family emergency or something. He was eating silently with his friends when Roman, the thespian of the group, said "You know, nerd, saying 'I'm not interested in you' can be much easier for guys than gals."

"Umm, okay. Why is that relevant? Did another hopeless girl think you're straight?" Logan asked with a puzzled tone.

"Not this time. I just think someone like Daniel would deserve closure if someone he has a crush on just told him he doesn't like him, so that time or effort isn't wasted, but, then again, I don't put the 'dick' in 'school valedictorian'," Roman retorted.

"Since when did you care about how Daniel feels?" Virgil, the group emo, asked aggressively.

"I don't, Brendon Furie, but I'm tired of hearing Remus ramble about how he'd make Daniel's failed plots more X-rated. He thinks Daniel should've offered to eat Crofters jam off of Logan's body once his attempt of inviting him to a picnic failed. He claimed it would be a better idea to offer practicing animal mating rituals at the zoo after Logan rejected his offer for them to go. He even decided that Daniel should've made a bracelet with anal beads for Logan as a better attempt for her to acknowledge it!" Roman aggressively whispered so no one else could hear.

"Umm... I'm right here, you know," Logan reminded his friends.

"Well, after 68 failures, you clearly don't like him, because the alternative would be that you're a complete idiot, so why does it matter to you what he tried to do?" Roman ranted.

Logan was surprised to all he heard. Not only did the bad boy he was curious about like him, but he didn't acknowledge the advances he made toward him until he looked at them in hindsight.

After school, Logan ran out the doors and looked near the area since he guessed Daniel wouldn't be too far away. He looked around and tried not to look like a crazed maniac while searching. Eventually, he came across one of the bars in town and saw a familiar-looking man with a yellow crop top revealing some of the scales of his snake tattoo, ripped black jeans, and yellow high heals leaning against the building while smoking. Logan approached the man and felt nervous. Daniel's eyes lit up briefly as he saw Logan approaching, but they became angry as he got closer.

"Look, Daniel, we need to talk-" the nerd started.

"If you're going to reject me, just get to the point. If I didn't like you, I certainly wouldn't shove my tally marked failures down your throat like Remus suggested," he responded with much venom overall with a hint of sarcasm in the second sentence.

Logan sighed before he gained the courage to speak up.

"Okay, can't say I don't deserve that for being oblivious 68 times. You may not be the best influence out there, but I have been curious enough to want to spend more time with you. If there were any times where I wasn't oblivious to your advances, I guess I figured you were trying to mess with my head considering your suitors and your status. Unless you're over me, I'd like to take you up on the offer of going to the zoo together."

Daniel looked at Logan like he told several puns back to back.

"You... do realize it's supposed to be a date, right?" Was all he could really say.

"Until recently, no I didn't. That being said, if you're willing, where would you like to meet?"

Daniel was still surprised by what he was hearing, but he complied to writing down his number and giving it to Logan.

"Text me when you get home and we'll set up a game plan," he suggested before kissing Logan's hand.

Logan blushed as he finally acknowledged the action as one of those things about Daniel he was curious about.

"I'll be gay forward this time," Logan promised, earning a snicker from Daniel.
