There are more surprising where that came from. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for "Another Top 10 Surprisingly Overpowered Anime Characters."

For this list, we’ll be going over the anime characters whose appearances or attitudes give nothing to suggest just how strong they actually are. Because their power can come as a twist, there may be some spoilers ahead.

The Black Bulls are a squad of magic knights that have a plethora of unusual and unusually strong members, but none have quite the disconnect between appearance and strength as Charmy Pappitson. A short girl with a big appetite, Charmy frequently acts as comedic relief and is often drawn in the “chibi” style, which only emphasizes her stature and adorability. While her magic, which creates cotton, also seems rather cute, Charmy is able to use it to restrain her foes and even create enormous sheep, which she can use to easily clobber her foes into defeat.

Krem looks like an ordinary girl, but her childlike appearance, attitude, and love of sweets hide her darker origins. Krem is actually Krebskulm, a large and powerful demon lord. Krebskulm may have reverted to an immature state, but she can return to her former glory when triggered. In her demonic form, Krem can prove to be even a match for the already strong protagonist Diablo with her formidable and destructive magic and physical power. She may have a sweet tooth, but once she gets going, she’s anything but.

A mysterious and unemotional girl, Hina drops into the life of a yakuza and begins staying with him as his pseudo-daughter. Lazy, aloof, and very particular about food, Hina doesn’t strike most as being particularly threatening, just a little weird. However, she also has several superhuman abilities, including spontaneous combustion and telekinesis, all of which are the result of her being experimented on and turned into a human weapon; which could explain her emotional distance. Oh, and did we mention that Hina is from the future?

A small gray, cat-like spirit that used to be human, Puck is basically the definition of non-threatening, at least to look at. Contracted with Emilia, Puck has several picky stipulations to their partnership, but he is generally caring and fun-loving. However, Puck can use a wide variety of magic. Even more frighteningly, he can alter his size to become a massive monster worthy of the name “Beast of the End.” Puck is so strong in this state that he drains the energy from everything around him; causing it to freeze, and he even killed Subaru effortlessly from a long distance.

A withdrawn but occasionally cheerful and mischievous girl, Shinobu Oshino is another supernatural being who has reverted to a less powerful state. In her case, Shinobu used to be a vampire of incredible strength, and with the rather ridiculous name “Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade,” she was able to regenerate, destroy things by looking at them, and even leap between continents, across hemispheres. Unfortunately for her, Shinobu can only return to that form after sucking blood, which is a shame, because if she did it every time she ate a donut, she’d be strong all the time!

Surprising strength doesn’t just belong to the young, or those who look it. Isaac Netero is the chairman of the Hunter Organization, a powerful group devoted to those who enthusiastically seek things, and most of whom can use mystical Nen abilities. Netero may be past his prime, but his Nen and strength are still ridiculously overpowered. The chairman is able to survive large jumps without injury, is superhumanly strong, fast, and durable, and his Nen abilities usually involve projecting enormous, golden statues to deliver devastating blows and powerful energy blasts. If not for the similarly overpowered nature of his final opponent, Netero would probably have won easily.

As we’ve seen already, powerful things can come in small packages, and they don’t get much smaller, or more pathetic, than a slime. Satoru Mikami is reincarnated as the most weakest of video game enemies after dying. However, the rechristened Rimuru Tempest is able to use his new body’s innate ability to absorb pretty much anything, and then mimic their properties and/or appearance, to rapidly acquire a host of powerful abilities and forms that he can shift into. In addition, his magical skills give him greater insight into which actions to take; giving him another big advantage.

Dragon Ball fans have waited decades for creator Akira Toriyama to include some female Saiyan characters. We can imagine their surprise when one of them turned out to be the rather timid Kale, an apprentice to a more assertive Saiyan, Caulifla. Kale may seem like the opposite of the typical member of the warrior race, but upon going Super Saiyan, Kale initially goes berserk as she is a legendary Super Saiyan, which is monstrously powerful; although, she eventually learns to control it. Kale proves a decent challenge for Goku, who has achieved forms that are arguably “above” hers; though who knows with Dragon Ball power scaling.

A guy who’s a hero for fun, Saitama may not look like much with his dorky costume, blank expression, and unassuming personality, but those who see his power learn to take him seriously. After some seriously “intense” training, Saitama managed to become the strongest man in the world. The caped baldy is so strong in fact, that he finds himself desperate to find a challenging opponent to make him feel alive again. Granted godly speed and strength enough to destroy a meteor or jump from the moon to the Earth, Saitama can also famously defeat anyone with a single punch… to his endless frustration.

What could be more surprisingly overpowered than an unimpressive superhero who always wins? How about a literal god! Haruhi Suzumiya appears to be an average, if extremely eccentric and pushy, high schooler. Yet her desires often manifest themselves in her life and that of her club, as if by magic. This, as one of her classmates explains to the protagonist, Kyon, is because Haruhi is actually a god; and despite not being aware that she’s doing it, reality conforms to her desires and if she isn’t kept in check, she could destroy the entire universe… If that’s not overpowered, what is?
