Star Wars: Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano is set to premiere as soon as late 2022 with Rosario Dawson reprising her role, a number of the cast being known, and more about the once unlikely fan favorite.

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano is a Star Wars character. First introduced in Star Wars The Clone Wars, Ahsoka was the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. She reappeared in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. Ahsoka’s most recent appearance came during the Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett.

Portrayed by Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka is the titular character of the next Disney+ series from the Star Wars Universe.

Ahsoka was an idea used to illustrate how Anakin develops from the brash, undisciplined, Padawan apprentice in Attack of the clones to a more reserved Jedi Knight in Episode III-Revenge of the Sith. It was Star Wars Creator George Lucas that wanted the character to appeal to girls.

Initially not being well received by fans and critics, writers focused on her being a Jedi apprentice more than a girl, not having any idea what it was like to be a 14-year-old girl.

Cast So Far

As of this writing, Ahsoka is listed with limited information on IMDB. So far, we know that Rosario Dawson is Ahsoka Tano and will be in the series. We also know that Hayden Christensen is expected to be in at least one episode, most likely as a flashback, or as Darth Vader. Other top stars include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, Natasha Liu Bordizzon (as Sabine Wren), and Ivanna Sakhno.

Release Date For Ahsoka

Officially, there hasn’t been a definitive release date for Ahsoka. Production of Ahsoka is scheduled to tentatively take place in 2022. Bespin Bulletin announced in November of 2021 that filming was scheduled for March. With shooting prospectively taking until fall, and any reshoots and post-production work, this could put Ahsoka out on Disney+ in late November, near Thanksgiving. We could see Ahsoka’s stories as a Christmas gift from Disney+.

But First, Obi-Wan Kenobi

The trailer looks incredible and Star Wars fans everywhere should be excited by the continuing story of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Jedi Hunters. With many of our old favorites possibly returning, some confirmed to return to their roles, this could be Disney Plus’s best series yet.

Over the past 45 years since the 1977 debut of Star Wars, we have watched as our favorite galaxy became a worldwide phenomenon. Now, 45 years later, the Star Wars universe is an entirely different story than it once was, and we are going to see round two of what some have declared the greatest lightsaber battle in movie history. On May 25th, Obi-Wan Kenobi comes to screens at home on Disney Plus, and as the excitement builds, Star Wars fans everywhere can’t wait.

The Series

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Ten years after the corruption and downfall of his Jedi apprentice, Obi-Wan has been in hiding as Jedi hunters comb the galaxy looking for the last vestiges of the Jedi.

It’s been released that Obi-Wan will be called back into action in the new series and have an important mission that directly involves a 10-year-old Leia in the series. Allegedly, it’s been learned that the princess was managing to get herself into trouble, even at a young age. From what’s been heard, it appears that the princess is captive in a Cantina, showing her capacity for being taken hostage started well before Episode 4.

Obi-Wan’s task will likely be to rescue the princess. A 10-year-old Leia’s involvement in the series seems to be significant and her adopted parents will play a role. If you haven’t watched the Star Wars prequels or Rogue One as of late, or have forgotten, Jimmy Smits played Senator Bail Organa throughout the prequels and reprised his role in Rogue One. It’s believed that Smits will make an important appearance.

“At least he has this one task left, and that’s to keep Luke safe.”

— Ewen McGregor

When we last saw Obi-Wan, it was after the defeat of the Jedi by the Sith, and as his young apprentice became the Darth Vader that we all have known, Obi-Wan was bestowing Owen and Beru Lars with the care of young Luke. Obi-Wan went into hiding on Tatooine, leaving the Lars couple to stare into the suns of Tatooine with Luke in their arms.

It’s all but been confirmed that Qui Gon Jin is returning to the Star Wars franchise for the first time since his demise at the hands of Darth Maul in Star Wars The Phantom Menace. Qui Gon was the one that saw the promise of a young Anakin being the chosen one, the one to bring balance to the force and destroy the Sith. At the end of Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith, Yoda mentions to Obi-Wan that an old friend was waiting to commiserate with him during his time on Tatooine.

It’s unknown if this is going to be a voice-over, some unseen flashbacks, or if in fact, Qui Gon Jin has been guiding Obi-Wan while he was in hiding. Liam Neeson had gone on record before saying that he’d return to the role if asked by Lucasfilm, and logically, it seems they’ve done just that.

In the post-Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith era, it only makes sense that the venomous hatred that Anakin held for Obi-Wan would drive him to find his old master as he becomes Darth Vader. Hayden Christensen has been confirmed to return as Darth Vader in the Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi series. This gives fans of the Star Wars saga a rare possibility for a potential second-round lightsaber battle between the two former allies.

Knowing that Obi-Wan looked upon him as a brother, that he Loved Anakin, could give Vader a distinct advantage going into a second-round lightsaber duel. It’s unknown as of yet, but in an interview for BTS Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ewen McGregor mentions that bringing him and Hayden back together gives them another opportunity to take a wack at each other.

In Conclusion

It's an exciting time for Star Wars fans. With the current series and the forthcoming projects, there's a lot of material that Disney can cover in the coming years. The Star Wars universe has always been full of possibilities. What we're seeing, is that they're finally being explored.
