While HBO's Game of Thrones has waved goodbye to vile villains like Joffrey, Walder Frey, and Ramsay over its tenure, there are still some pretty major threats knocking around the realm. We have those frosty foes the White Walkers, whispers that Daenerys could take on the "Mad Queen" persona, and Cersei still proving that black is the new black while sitting pretty on the Iron Throne. However, there is someone relatively new to the show who is certainly making "waves" in Westeros.

We may only be two episodes in to Season 7, but #PilouAsbæk's madcap Euron Greyjoy is proving that it's a pirate's life for him. We all know that the motto of the Greyjoy family may be "What is dead may never die," but that salty sea dog is already teasing the end could be nigh for Euron.

Sailing To His Doom

The pillaging pirate has certainly upped his screen presence since a lackluster appearance last year, and dare I say it, Euron is becoming one of the best characters that Thrones currently has to offer. However, don't get too attached, Asbæk told Variety that his days are numbered:

“He knows his time is spare. He knows he’s going to die at one point. And if you ask me, it’s probably going to be spectacular. I hope so. But right now, he’s in for a ride.”

The dashing Dane has already promised that Euron will be worse than Ramsay Bolton, which means there are some pretty big shoes to fill. We have already seen Euron take down the Greyjoy fleet belonging to his niece and nephew — while also dispatching some Sand Snakes — so villainous notoriety is just a stone's throw away. That being said, in a show that is known for killing anyone and everyone, Euron's rise in popularity could also be his downfall:

“I’m completely free in Euron. I don’t feel any restrictions. With Euron, it’s like 'Let’s do more crazy eyes, more manic, more violent, and fierce.' Until the day that Dan and David kill me.”

Water Way To Go

The whole hook of Game of Thrones is that good doesn't always triumph over evil. Over the years we have seen many scoundrels escape justice, but surely there are some just deserts coming Euron's way? If the King of the Salt Throne really does manage to get his wicked way with Cersei Lannister, it could create one hell of an alliance, but at the same time also put Euron in a very dangerous position indeed. We have already seen Qyburn and Cersei prepare for an onslaught of dragons at the capital, and seeing Euron get roasted alive by Dany's pets would certainly fulfill Asbæk's hopes of a spectacular way to go.

Given how poorly Euron was received last year, it is great to see Asbæk kicking ass this time round. Taking on the role of two Greyjoys from #GeorgeRRMartin's books, Euron is certainly a force to be reckoned with. Chopping out the tongues of his victims and swinging that massive Kraken axe, we feel that Euron's mean streak is only just beginning to shine through, so surely he can't be ready to head off to meet the drowned God just yet? And just when we were starting to like him!
