Home of Abigail Berger - Morning

Abigail jumped when the doorbell rang. She wasn't expecting company and after Niles' arrest, she didn't want any either. It rang again and reluctantly, she made her way to the door. She was surprised as she looked through the peephole.

"FBI, open the door; we just want to talk."

Exhaling, she opened the door. Derek Morgan was even more handsome up close and in person. She couldn't help but notice his chiseled body muscles pressing tightly against the thin dark material of his t-shirt.

She hated him, he'd ruined her life. She so wanted to tell him that her life was now dedicated to destroying him, but now was not the time.

"What do you want?"

He raised his badge as did the blonde next to him.

"I'm SSA Derek Morg..."

"I know who you are."

"I'm SSA Jenifer Jarreau, ma'am. We just need a few minutes, if it's okay."

Abigail rolled her eyes before finally letting them into the small apartment. JJ scanned the apartment. It was relatively clean and orderly, minimally furnished; nothing odd that would give signs that a serial killer lived here.

The agents followed Abigail into the main room of the apartment before she turned to face them.

"So, what can I do for you both?"

"We just wanted to stop by as a courtesy call; to see if you were okay." Morgan began.

"You accused my husband of the most horrid crimes! You hunted him down like a dog! You boasted on national t.v. like you were Captain America! You've destroyed my life, Agent! How do you think I feel?"

JJ looked at Morgan, she saw the guilt on his face as if things could have ended differently. They'd brought a serial killer to justice and now he would spend the rest of his life behind bars. But JJ also knew her friend and she knew that Derek would still blame himself for the chaos in this woman's life and the grief in the victims' families lives as if he could have predicted that Niles Berger would be born and grow up to be a sick maniacal sociopath.

"Your husband kidnapped, tortured and killed eleven women." JJ responded.

"Niles wouldn't do that!" Then walking away from the two. "That's not the man I married!"

Morgan slowly approached the woman who was staring blankly out of the kitchen window.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Berger, I know this must be difficult but we have a strong case against Niles..." Derek began.

"Are you married, agent?"

"Yes, yes I am."

"How would you feel if someone came into your life and took that person from you?"

"Excuse me? Is that a threat?"

"Calm down agent, it's just a question, that's all."

"Your husband is a very sick man and he hurt a lot of people. I'm sorry you got hurt in the process."

JJ heard the exchange and approached the two, taking a stance just behind her partner.

"Derek?"

"I'm okay, I'm okay."

Abigail turned to face the two. Derek reached into his pocket and pulled out a card, offering it to the grieving woman.

"Take care of yourself. If you need anything, here's my card."

Abigail took the card without a word. The information would come in handy. She didn't realize he would make it so easy for her. Walking the agents to the door she knew that her life would be meaningless until she made SSA Derek Morgan pay for ruining her life.

Abigail raised the card and studied it.

"You won't see it coming Derek Morgan. You'll wish you'd never met me or my husband."

"That was a waste of time." JJ began as they got into the car. "You didn't have to do that you know."

"Yeah I know. I just feel..."

"Guilty? Come on Derek! Niles Berger is a serial rapist and killer! In fact, Dave still believes that Mrs. Berger was involved somehow, maybe even the dominant. Either way, to stay with a man like Niles Berger..."

"I hear you, I hear you. They're both two crazy fucks!"

"Okay, so what is this all about; really?"

"JJ, you saw the victims, blonde, brown eyes, pregnant!"

"You know I saw them, so what, Derek?"

"My wife! My wife, JJ! Those women are a carbon copy of Baby Girl!"

"They're not Penelope, okay? They are not!"

Derek pulled into traffic still trying to clear his mind. Abigail was the complete opposite of the victims; olive complexion, dark hair and rail thin. Which, ruled her out as the real victim or the motivation for Niles' killing spree. It also made him wonder if Dave had been right perhaps Abigail was somehow involved in her husband's actions.

"I've got to keep her safe."

"What?"

"I've got to keep Penelope safe. If anything ever happened to her..."

"Nothing's going to happen to her, Derek. Relax, let's just get back to the office. Once you set eyes on your wife then you can relax."

Abigail refilled her mug and got comfortable at the kitchen table. She twirled the business card between her fingers and smiled. She was ready to begin where her dear Niles had left off.

She'd asked the agent if he was married, taunting him with her innocent question. She saw the look in his eyes. He'd come to her home to check on her, but that didn't mean he trusted her or was one to be easily fooled by her broken-hearted act. Still, it gave her some satisfaction nonetheless to ask the question.

Abigail not only knew that Agent Morgan was married, but he knew that his wife was pregnant. Like her husband's other victims, she was blonde, brown-eyed and beautiful. She had studied the woman for weeks. In fact, Penelope Morgan would have been Nile's next target. She would have been a message sent to the cocky agent, that he was no match for the Bergers. Abigail would have insisted on watching as her husband raped and tortured the agent's wife and when she was dead, Abigail would personally make sure Agent Morgan knew that he had been bested.

With Niles in jail, it was up to her to finish, to exact revenge against the prideful FBI agent. Abigail continued to fiddle with the business card, then without another thought she dressed and headed toward Quantico.
