A Playlist of Christmas Songs Inspired By The Office Characters

"Just give me plain, baby Jesus lying in a manger Christmas!" - Stanley Hudson

Over the course of its nine seasons, The Office gave us several iconic Christmas moments. Despite going off the air in 2013, Christmas at Dunder-Mifflin still has a place in the hearts of the show's fans. With all of the diverse and interesting characters on the show, they all inspired very different Christmas traditions in the office. So to keep the Christmas spirit of Dunder-Mifflin alive, here is a playlist full of songs that are based on the wonderful characters from The Office.

Creed Bratton - "Run Rudolph Run" (Chuck Berry)

This classic rock number has Creed written all over it. With lyrics like "all I want for Christmas is a rock and roll electric guitar," it captures the free-spirited attitude of The Office's most eccentric character.

Meredith Palmer - "Santa Baby" (Eartha Kitt)

The tongue in cheek lyrics of this Christmas classic fit well with the personality of the sexually liberated Meredith Palmer.

Toby Flenderson - "Blue Christmas" (Elvis Presley)

The melancholy lyrics of this song fit perfectly with Toby because he's always sad and missing his ex-wife. And between him getting bad Christmas gifts for his daughter and ending up in a hospital on his Costa Rica vacation, many of his Christmases on the show were blue.

Gabe Lewis - "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" (Korn)

Gabe Lewis was known for being weird and borderline creepy. Maybe it had to do with his collection of over 200 horror movies or his interest in the art of unsettling cinema, but this song captures his essence well. Originally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, this song takes a dark approach to the usually cheerful holiday and the heavy rock version by Korn makes the song even more dark.

Kevin Malone - "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"

This Christmas carol is inspired by Kevin's love for food. The lyrics "Bring us some figgy pudding" and "we won't go until we get some" sound like Kevin's definition of Christmas.

Oscar Martinez - "Feliz Navidad" (Jose Feliciano)

What better to represent our favorite "smug, gay Mexican" (in the words of Jim Halpert) than adding a little Spanish flare to Christmas?

Ryan Howard - "The Night That Baby Was Born" (Smokey Robinson)

Ryan claimed to be a Smokey Robinson fan when he believed a hoax about the music legend being dead, despite only knowing one of his songs. In an attempt to seem deep, Ryan faked his fanhood and an obscure song like this one would be the exact kind of Christmas song he would want himself to be associated with.

Kelly Kapoor - "All I Want For Christmas is You" (Mariah Carey)

Kelly Kapoor was all about the mainstream and it hardly gets more mainstream than this Christmas hit. There is also no doubt in my mind that Kelly would be a fan of a music diva like Mariah Carey. Plus, fans of the show could see this being the song she dedicates to Ryan for Christmas.

Stanley Hudson - "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch"

Stanley is known around the office for being the grumpy old man so it should come as no surprise that this Christmas song written about a Christmas grouch would be dedicated to him.

Phyllis Vance - "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy"

This song is light and simple and sounds exactly like how the motherly presence of the office makes us feel.

Darryl Philbin - "This Christmas" (Donny Hathaway)

This soulful classic is definitely one that I could imagine Darryl covering on his synthesizer and it's a shame we never got to see that on the show.

Erin Hannon - "The Chipmunk Song" (2007 version)

What song would fit the youthful innocence of cartoon loving Erin Hannon better than this song? Despite originally being released in 1958, the 2007 version from the Alvin and The Chipmunks movie fits Erin better because of her youth on the show and because this was probably one of her favorite movies.

Andy Bernard - "12 Days of Christmas"

When Andy was trying to win Erin's heart, his famous Christmas gesture was to try to give her all of the things listed in the "12 Days of Christmas" song. Who can forget Erin walking into the office with scars from bird pecks and Andy's realization that giving her a bunch of birds was not as romantic of a gesture as he initially thought?

Bonus: Anything by Pentatonix because the "Boner Champ" can't resist some good ol' acapella.

Angela Martin - "The Little Drummer Boy"

This song of course had to be used to represent the blonde stickler of the office because Angela shared that this was her favorite song of all time, which gave us a great karaoke moment on the show.

Dwight Schrute - "Carol of the Bells" (Trans-Siberian Orchestra)

One of the most iconic Christmas moments from the show was watching Dwight rock out to this version of "Carol of the Bells." It shows off his music taste well as there were several moments on the show where Dwight would pump himself up to some rock music before a sale or asking for a raise.

Bonus: Something in German because it can't be a Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas without it.

Pam Halpert - "Frosty the Snowman"

This fun kids' song is one that Pam would undoubtedly sing to her two kids. It's simple and kid-friendly just like she is.

Jim Halpert - "Last Christmas" (Wham!)

For three whole seasons, fans of the show watched as Jim and Pam danced around their obvious feelings for each other. This song could have been a soundtrack to Jim's feelings in those first seasons. From him telling Pam that he was in love with her and her telling him that she was still going to marry Roy to Jim moving to Stamford and dating Karen. The chorus describes that situation perfectly and even lyrics like "now I know what a fool I've been, but if you kissed me now I know you'd fool me again" perfectly sums up how Jim wanted to move on but his feelings for Pam were still lying beneath the surface.

Michael Scott - "Deck the Halls"

This Christmas carol that everyone loves is the perfect Christmas song for the loveable leader of the office, who is almost everyone's favorite character. It is exactly the kind of song that Michael would want to join in on if some carolers came by the office and of course, in true Michael fashion, he would take the higher harmony and sing the "Fa la la la la"s with a lot of enthusiasm.

With so many of the normal things we typically do for the holidays being put on hold this year, everyone deserves a little extra Christmas cheer. No matter what your holiday plans are, Christmas music and The Office will always be there to put you in the Christmas spirit.
