A Killer Paradox Ending Explained: Lee Tang’s Vigilante Power, Song Chon’s Truth and the Final Twist (Spoilers)
Netflix’s dark Korean crime thriller follows Lee Tang from an accidental killer to a mysterious vigilante who seems able to recognize evil people — while Detective Jang Nan-gam gets dangerously close to uncovering the truth.

A Killer Paradox Ending Explained
Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for A Killer Paradox, including Lee Tang’s murders, Roh Bin’s secret operation, Song Chon’s past and the Season 1 ending.
A Killer Paradox begins like a crime thriller about an ordinary man who makes one terrible mistake. But as the story develops, it becomes something much darker. Lee Tang discovers that the people he kills repeatedly turn out to be criminals, while the evidence connecting him to their deaths somehow disappears.
What initially looks like unbelievable luck slowly begins to feel like a supernatural ability.
At the same time, Detective Jang Nan-gam becomes increasingly suspicious of Tang. Roh Bin enters Tang’s life and transforms him into a vigilante, while former detective Song Chon represents a much more violent version of the same idea.
By the ending, A Killer Paradox is no longer simply asking who the murderer is. It asks a much more uncomfortable question: if someone only kills terrible criminals, does that make him a hero or still a murderer?
Lee Tang’s Life Before the Murders
Lee Tang is struggling to decide what he wants from life after finishing his military service. He dreams of eventually going to Canada, but his family has different plans for him.
He moves into a small room and takes a job at a convenience store.
One night, two drunk men visit the store and create trouble. Later, Tang encounters them again outside. A confrontation turns violent, and one of the men brutally attacks him.
Tang finally fights back using a hammer he had borrowed from the store.
The blow kills the man.
Tang immediately realizes how badly his life could change. He imagines being arrested, his family discovering the truth and his entire future disappearing.
There is another problem.
A woman walking with her dog appears near the crime scene.
Tang initially believes she is blind and therefore could not have witnessed what happened.
He is wrong.
Tang Discovers His First Victim Was a Serial Killer
Detective Jang Nan-gam begins investigating the mysterious death.
Tang becomes increasingly paranoid because several details could potentially connect him to the scene. However, the investigation takes an unexpected turn when DNA testing reveals the identity of the dead man.
He was not an innocent stranger.
He was a wanted serial killer who had been hiding his true identity.
Tang is stunned.
Instead of accidentally murdering an ordinary person, he unknowingly eliminated a dangerous criminal.
It is the first event that introduces the central mystery of A Killer Paradox: why do Tang’s victims keep turning out to be guilty?
The Fake Blind Woman Blackmails Lee Tang
Tang soon receives another shock when the supposedly blind woman appears at his workplace.
She reveals that she actually saw what happened.
Even worse, her dog picked up Tang’s hammer from the crime scene.
She now possesses the murder weapon and demands money for her silence.
Tang desperately tries to collect the money. He asks for an advance from his employer, considers returning his recently purchased phone and even takes money his family had been saving.
Eventually, he goes to the woman’s house believing that paying her will end the nightmare.
Instead, she demands that Tang continue paying her every month.
Tang realizes she will control him for the rest of his life.
When she threatens to expose him to his family, something inside Tang snaps.
He kills her with the hammer.
Tang has now killed two people.
But once again, fate seems to protect him.
Another Victim Turns Out to Be Evil
Police eventually discover the woman’s body.
Her dog has contaminated much of the crime scene, making useful fingerprints extremely difficult to recover.
Then investigators discover something shocking buried around her property.
Human remains are found.
The woman who had been blackmailing Tang was hiding horrifying crimes of her own.
Once again, Tang has killed someone who appears to have deserved punishment.
Tang starts wondering whether these events can really be coincidences.
Two violent young criminals later cross his path. Tang experiences a strange sensation around them, almost as if something inside him is telling him that they are dangerous.
They are later found dead.
Tang wakes up with little understanding of what happened.
Beside him are objects connected to the killings and a mysterious message directing him toward a Telegram account.
Someone knows what Tang is doing.
And instead of trying to stop him, this person wants to help him.
Roh Bin and “Only for Heroes”
The mysterious person is eventually revealed to be Roh Bin.
Roh Bin is obsessed with crime, justice and vigilantes. He believes Tang possesses an extraordinary ability: Tang can somehow recognize people who have committed terrible crimes.
Roh Bin wants to turn Tang into a real-life vigilante.
His operation is connected to the name Only for Heroes.
Roh Bin provides information, equipment, money and targets. Tang becomes the person who carries out the punishment.
Initially, Tang is disturbed by what he has become.
But something changes after he confronts another apparently respectable man and discovers evidence of horrifying crimes on his phone.
Tang realizes that his mysterious instinct has identified another guilty person.
He kills him.
From that moment onward, Tang begins accepting the idea that this might be his purpose.
Whenever Roh Bin discovers information about dangerous criminals, Tang hunts them.
The frightened convenience-store worker slowly transforms into an increasingly confident killer.
Detective Jang Nan-gam Refuses to Give Up
While Tang and Roh Bin continue their secret mission, Detective Jang Nan-gam keeps investigating the unexplained deaths.
Nan-gam notices something unusual.
The victims are criminals.
Evidence repeatedly disappears.
Witnesses fail to provide anything useful.
Every time Tang appears close to being exposed, circumstances seem to protect him.
Nan-gam cannot prove Tang is responsible, but his instincts tell him something is wrong.
His obsession eventually creates problems with his own police career, but he refuses to completely abandon the case.
Then another dangerous figure enters the story.
Song Chon.
Who Is Song Chon?
Song Chon is a former police officer with his own twisted philosophy of justice.
Like Tang, he targets people he believes deserve punishment.
Unlike Tang, Song Chon has spent years becoming comfortable with violence.
This makes him important to the story because he represents what Tang could eventually become.
Tang still questions himself.
Song Chon rarely does.
He believes he has the right to decide who deserves to live or die.
Song Chon also possesses extraordinary instincts that make him extremely difficult to defeat. He often appears capable of sensing an attack before it happens.
Eventually, Song Chon becomes fascinated by Tang.
He wants to understand whether Tang truly has a supernatural ability to identify criminals or whether everyone around him has simply created that mythology.
Tang, Roh Bin and Song Chon Become Fugitives
The situation becomes increasingly chaotic as police connect more cases.
Song Chon kills powerful people and attracts enormous attention.
Tang and Roh Bin also become wanted.
Roh Bin begins planning an escape, hoping that Tang can disappear and start another life.
But Roh Bin carries enormous guilt.
He realizes that his obsession with creating vigilante heroes has helped turn multiple people into killers.
Instead of escaping with Tang, Roh Bin decides to confront the problem he helped create.
Meanwhile, Nan-gam has his own deeply personal reason for hunting Song Chon.
Song Chon is connected to what happened to Nan-gam’s father.
The conflict is no longer simply police versus criminals.
Each character is seeking his own version of justice.
Roh Bin’s Final Decision
Tang believes he and Roh Bin are going to escape.
But Roh Bin secretly leaves him a letter.
Roh Bin explains that he cannot leave because he needs to finish what he started. He feels responsible for the situation and wants to correct his mistakes.
Rather than running away, Roh Bin approaches Jang Nan-gam.
He tells Nan-gam he can lead him to Song Chon.
Tang eventually realizes what Roh Bin is doing and follows them.
Everything is now moving toward the final confrontation.
The Final Confrontation With Song Chon
Nan-gam and Roh Bin arrive at the location where Song Chon is waiting.
Song Chon knows Nan-gam is emotionally vulnerable because of his father.
Then Tang arrives as well.
A violent confrontation begins.
Tang attacks Song Chon, while Nan-gam struggles between arresting him and taking revenge.
During the chaos, Roh Bin is shot.
Tang rushes toward Roh Bin, devastated that his friend returned instead of escaping with him.
Roh Bin’s death becomes one of the biggest emotional turning points of the ending because he was the person who convinced Tang that his strange ability could be used for justice.
Without Roh Bin, Tang must decide for himself what he wants to become.
Song Chon Reveals the Truth About Nan-gam’s Father
Before dying, Song Chon reveals another disturbing truth.
Nan-gam had viewed his father through the image of a respected police officer.
Song Chon claims the reality was much darker.
According to him, Nan-gam’s father was involved in corruption and had treated Song Chon terribly when they worked together.
Song Chon says he eventually reached his breaking point and attacked him.
The revelation destroys Nan-gam’s simple understanding of good and evil.
His father was not completely innocent.
Song Chon is a murderer, but his anger did not appear from nowhere.
This mirrors the central theme of the entire series: people cannot always be divided neatly into heroes and villains.
Does Lee Tang Kill Song Chon?
During the confrontation, Tang prepares to finish Song Chon himself.
Tang tells Nan-gam to give him the gun because Nan-gam has never killed anyone and should not have to cross that line.
But Song Chon suddenly attacks Tang.
Nan-gam reacts.
He shoots Song Chon.
Song Chon dies.
This is important because Nan-gam spends much of the series trying to maintain the difference between legal justice and vigilante punishment.
Yet in the final confrontation, even he is pushed into taking a life.
Tang looks at Song Chon’s body and understands something important.
Taking a human life never becomes as simple as calling someone “evil.”
What Happens to Roh Bin?
Roh Bin does not survive the final confrontation.
His death effectively ends the original version of Only for Heroes.
Roh Bin had spent years searching for people who could punish criminals that the legal system failed to stop.
But his dream repeatedly produced violence.
His partnership with Tang initially made him believe he had finally found the perfect hero.
By the end, however, Roh Bin realizes that controlling violence is impossible once someone begins deciding who deserves to die.
His death leaves Tang without the person who selected his targets, provided evidence and cleaned up many of his problems.
Tang is now alone.
Is Lee Tang Arrested?
Tang initially escapes from the final scene.
Later, however, police manage to arrest him.
This appears to be the moment when everything will finally catch up with him.
Investigators still have one major problem: they cannot find solid evidence linking Tang to the murders.
Nan-gam is placed in a position where his testimony could help determine Tang’s fate.
He looks at Tang but chooses not to expose everything he knows.
Without sufficient evidence, Tang is released.
That decision becomes crucial to the ending.
Nan-gam knows Tang is almost certainly responsible for multiple deaths.
Yet after everything he has witnessed — including corruption, failed investigations and Song Chon’s revelations — his understanding of justice has become far more complicated.
Did Lee Tang Lose His Ability?
No.
The final scenes strongly suggest that Tang’s mysterious instinct remains.
After Tang is released, Nan-gam later sees a news report about another dead man.
The victim is revealed to have been responsible for a horrifying crime from years earlier.
Nan-gam immediately understands the implication.
Tang is active again.
The vigilante killings have not ended.
In the final moments, Tang walks alone at night.
A stranger crosses his path.
Immediately, Tang experiences the familiar sensation again.
His instinct is telling him that this person has done something terrible.
The series ends before showing what Tang does next.
But the message is obvious.
Lee Tang’s story is not finished.
A Killer Paradox Ending Explained: What Does the Final Scene Mean?
The ending deliberately avoids giving viewers a simple answer about whether Tang is a hero or a villain.
Tang undeniably kills people.
That makes him a criminal.
But the disturbing paradox is that his victims repeatedly turn out to be people responsible for horrific acts.
Even more strangely, evidence repeatedly disappears before police can prove Tang’s involvement.
It almost feels as though fate itself is protecting him.
Roh Bin believes Tang has been chosen.
Song Chon questions whether Tang is truly special.
Nan-gam knows Tang is dangerous but cannot completely dismiss what he has witnessed.
And Tang gradually accepts that the strange instinct inside him may define the rest of his life.
That is the real meaning behind the title A Killer Paradox.
Tang is both a murderer and someone eliminating murderers.
The police are supposed to represent justice, yet some officers are corrupt.
The criminals deserve punishment, but allowing one person to secretly decide who deserves death creates another kind of danger.
There is no comfortable answer.
Why Nan-gam Lets Tang Go
Nan-gam's decision not to fully expose Tang is one of the most important elements of the ending.
At the beginning of the series, Nan-gam believes in finding the truth through investigation.
By the end, his worldview has been damaged.
He learns disturbing things about his father.
He sees powerful criminals escape normal punishment.
He sees Tang repeatedly kill guilty people without leaving evidence.
And he personally kills Song Chon during the final confrontation.
Nan-gam therefore understands that the difference between himself and Tang may not be as clear as he once believed.
He does not openly approve of Tang.
But he also does not provide the final push needed to keep him imprisoned.
It is a morally complicated choice rather than a simple act of forgiveness.
Is Lee Tang Really Supernatural?
The series never completely explains Tang’s ability.
That uncertainty is intentional.
Tang repeatedly experiences a strange feeling when he encounters someone connected to serious crimes.
The people he kills later turn out to be guilty.
Evidence also disappears through almost impossible coincidences.
The story therefore leaves two possibilities.
Tang could genuinely possess a supernatural ability to recognize evil.
Or the series could be exaggerating coincidence and instinct to explore the fantasy of perfect vigilante justice.
Either interpretation leads to the same uncomfortable question:
What happens when a person becomes convinced that fate itself has given him permission to kill?
Final Thoughts
A Killer Paradox begins with Lee Tang desperately wanting to escape responsibility for one accidental killing.
By the ending, he has become something completely different.
He no longer needs Roh Bin to choose his targets.
He no longer believes every killing is simply an accident.
And he no longer seems determined to escape the strange ability that has followed him throughout the story.
Song Chon is dead.
Roh Bin is dead.
Nan-gam knows the truth but cannot prove it.
Lee Tang is free.
Then his mysterious instinct activates again.
Instead of closing Tang’s story, the ending completes his transformation.
The ordinary young man who once dreamed of escaping to Canada has become a lone vigilante walking through the darkness, waiting for the next person his mysterious ability identifies as guilty.
And that final moment leaves the biggest question unanswered:
Will Lee Tang continue eliminating only truly dangerous criminals — or will the power to decide who deserves to die eventually turn him into the very kind of person he believes he is meant to punish?
