This is the story of the birth of the Truth or Pie Show in San Francisco as seen on the internet at www.truthorpieshow.com and where DONALD TRUMP always gets a pie in his face on the show. Watch the show. It's a riot. Ha! Well, your call, so check it out for yourself. .. You'll never believe this, but Art being around, a great comedian who was just starting comedy, .... ROBIN WILLIAMS ...... Robin was a huge motivation for Art inventing the Truth or Pie Show. Anyway on to the story of how the Truth or Pie Show was born.

The Truth or Pie Show is the creation of Art Roberts, a Canadian, way back in about 2008. Art's been naturally funny all of his life as he enjoys humor and all comedy. The old time TV comedy shows like I Love Lucy and like that were always favorites of Art.

Anyway.. to cram a long story into a shorter bunch of words.. Art went to school in California, married an American girl, Marilyn, got divorced and ended up living in San Francisco with his buddy Tim. Art who loved comedy was becoming really frustrated because Americans didn't really tell any jokes on a daily basis like the Canadians did, so there wasn't many laughs on a daily basis. Art loved comedy and all humor but due to no jokes being told Art was really becoming unhappy.

So one day while talking with a fellow he met in a cafe, Art started complaining about no jokes being told by Americans, and the fellow said.. "Hey there's a new comedy club starting up called The Holy City Zoo on Clement street ( Really Famous Now ) . Well that was really great news to Art so he immediately found the club and learned that comedy was only on Wednesday night. One night a week. Damn! Oh well. What the hell.. at least one night.

Well Art showed up on Wednesday night and was amazed. They were doing Stand Up Comedy at the Zoo. YOW! It was fantastic. Talk about laughter and wonderful comedy.. YOW! And now you'll be really startled as to what I'll tell you right now. There were all kinds of people starting out doing stand up comedy.. and you'll never believe this but ROBIN WILLIAMS was one of them. Just starting out doing comedy in a hole in the wall bar. Robin Williams! Yow.. and he was hysterical.

Art was amazed.. and there were all kinds of absolutely wild crazy funny comedians doing stand up on Wednesday nights. And all in this hole in the wall bar on Clement Street in San Francisco. In later years many became very famous. People like Dana Carvey of Saturday Night Live fame, and even Ellen DeGeneres of huge TV fame started at the Zoo ... WOW. The Holy City Zoo was where all the comedians started. If you want to learn a bunch about the Holy City Zoo, just go to Wikipedia on the web and search for Holy City Zoo. You'll see a list of all the comedians on that page. Really interesting.

Anyway, Art being thrilled with comedy, decided that he'd try doing stand up comedy too. Oh Oh! Look out Art! They don't call it dying for nothing when trying to be funny and it doesn't work. OOOOOoo it's awful when a person gets up on stage to do comedy and nobody laughs. They just stare at the person which is brutal. Art immediately quit trying to do Stand Up Comedy due to running into that exact situation. Man that really frustrated Art because he was meeting all of the comedians yet couldn't do Stand Up Comedy at all. Damn! Anyway, meeting and being friends with all of those incredible comedians was just wild. And what a great time.. and it went on for years. And still exists.. just go to Facebook and search for Holy City Zoo Fan Club. It's all there and a place where all of the comedians connect if you like comedy.

Well not being able, at the time, to do Stand Up with Robin and all the comedians, and wanting desperately to be in the comedy thing some way so he could be part of the gang. Art thought.. WELL, why not make a funny comedy show on the internet. That way he could do comedy on video ( with lots of editing possible in case of you know what - not funny.. opps.. change it ) Can't do that when it's live on stage in front of people. So no dying on video. Wheewwwww! So can't be like Robin Williams on stage, but how about on a video show? Doing comedy. Well maybe not as great as Robin Williams did, but doing comedy. Coming from the same group of comedians at the Holy City Zoo where Robin started. But he was great, right off the get go!

So Art thought.. man what would be funny and came up with Pie in the Face as it was always standard old time type of comedy and it was also family oriented.. what the hell.. let's go with Pie in the Face! Given that, how to make a show around that idea... HEY? How about a show that goes around the world asking famous people a question... and if they answer poorly -- they get a pie in the face.. what the hell.. that's OK.. but how would all of that happen.. TRUTH OR PIE SHOW was in the egg stage now.

OK.. how about giving the entire world audience a free remote unit that had a TRUTH button and a PIE button on it.. and the audience could vote .. Truth or Pie! Ya.. that's it. Vote TRUTH if they thought the show guest was telling the truth or vote PIE if they thought the show guest was lying or BSing. So the viewing audience world wide votes by pushing the Truth button or the Pie button and our high speed computers would immediately show the result of the vote ( Phony - we don't have any high speed computers and nobody ever got a remote unit from us anyway.. ha! ) Well we lie a lot on the Truth or Pie Show.. have to ... or we'd be wrecked. Anyway, it's all about Pie in the Face for a laugh. Especially Donald Trump getting a pie in the face.. ha!

And if the vote was PIE.. well it was PIE IN THE FACE! Ha! And VOILA! The TRUTH OR PIE SHOW WAS BORN !!! The Truth or Pie Show was born about 2008 way after Robin and lots of the other Holy City Zoo comedians were already big stars. And now the plan is to have the Truth or Pie show existing on the internet forever. Why not? It's just a 2 to 3 minute show. Easy to check out. Get a laugh whenever you want.
