A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 Ending Explained: Jamie’s Disappearance, Child Brunswick and Pip’s Darkest Case (Spoilers)
Pip Fitz-Amobi returns for an even darker mystery as Jamie Reynolds disappears, buried secrets surface, and the search for justice changes her forever.

Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2, including the complete ending and major character reveals.
After solving the mystery surrounding Andie Bell in Season 1, Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi thought she could finally step away from investigating crimes. Unfortunately, Little Kilton is not ready to let her live a normal teenage life.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 brings Emma Myers back as Pip alongside Zain Iqbal as Ravi Singh. This time, the story is based on Holly Jackson’s second novel, Good Girl, Bad Blood, and revolves around the mysterious disappearance of Jamie Reynolds.
What begins as another missing-person investigation gradually becomes something far more disturbing, forcing Pip to question whether discovering the truth always leads to justice.
Why Does Pip Start Investigating Again?
At the beginning of Season 2, Pip wants to leave detective work behind.
The Andie Bell investigation affected her emotionally, and she hopes to concentrate on school, her relationship with Ravi and the people closest to her.
Everything changes when Jamie Reynolds, the brother of Pip’s friend Connor, suddenly disappears.
Jamie is also an important witness connected to the trial of Max Hastings, making his disappearance even more suspicious.
When the authorities fail to move quickly enough, Pip once again begins investigating the case herself.
What Happened to Jamie Reynolds?
One of the biggest questions throughout Season 2 is whether Jamie is still alive.
The answer is yes.
Jamie had been communicating online with someone calling herself Layla. However, Layla was not the person Jamie believed her to be.
Through the online relationship, Jamie becomes caught inside a much larger plan involving a mysterious man from the past known as Child Brunswick.
Jamie eventually identifies Stanley Forbes as the person connected to that name and confronts him.
Stanley panics and restrains Jamie, but he does not murder him. Jamie remains alive while Pip desperately searches for clues explaining his disappearance.
Who Is Stanley Forbes?
The most important twist of Season 2 comes when Pip discovers Stanley Forbes’ real history.
Stanley is actually the person once known publicly as Child Brunswick.
As a child, he had been forced by his serial-killer father, Scott Brunswick, to help lure victims. Stanley himself was also a child trapped under the control of a dangerous parent.
After his father was arrested, Stanley testified against him and was eventually given a new identity so he could rebuild his life.
That new identity was Stanley Forbes.
This revelation changes the way Pip sees him. Stanley is connected to terrible events, but his own childhood was defined by manipulation, fear and abuse.
Who Is Really Behind Layla?
The Layla mystery eventually leads Pip toward Charlie Green.
Charlie has a deeply personal connection to the Child Brunswick case and has been searching for Stanley.
His motivation comes from grief and a desire for revenge. Instead of trusting the justice system, Charlie decides that Stanley deserves punishment for what happened in the past.
Jamie becomes a useful piece in Charlie’s plan because his online relationship with “Layla” allows him to be manipulated into searching for Child Brunswick.
Once Pip understands the truth, however, the situation becomes impossible to control.
Why Does Charlie Kill Stanley?
The finale becomes especially tragic when Charlie finally confronts Stanley.
Pip has uncovered Stanley’s identity, but instead of bringing closure, her investigation unintentionally helps Charlie reach him.
Charlie shoots Stanley.
Pip desperately tries to save Stanley as he dies in front of her. The moment is devastating because Pip has spent the entire season believing that uncovering the truth is the right thing to do.
This time, however, solving the mystery comes with a terrible consequence.
Stanley’s death leaves Pip emotionally shattered and forces her to confront a frightening possibility: sometimes the truth cannot repair the damage it exposes.
What Happens to Max Hastings?
Running alongside Jamie’s disappearance is the trial of Max Hastings.
Multiple allegations have been made against Max, and Pip is determined to see him held accountable.
However, the legal case does not end the way Pip expects.
Max is ultimately found not guilty.
For Pip, the verdict becomes another example of the difference between knowing what happened and being able to prove it inside a courtroom.
Unable to accept the outcome quietly, Pip releases evidence publicly, damaging Max’s reputation even though the legal system has allowed him to walk free.
It is another major turning point in Pip’s character.
She is no longer simply the curious student detective we met at the beginning of the series.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 Ending Explained
By the end of Season 2, Jamie is found alive, but the victory does not feel like a happy ending.
Stanley is dead.
Charlie has carried out his revenge.
Max Hastings remains legally free.
And Pip is left traumatized by everything that happened.
The mystery may technically be solved, but Pip has paid an enormous emotional price.
The season therefore asks a much bigger question than “Who did it?”
It asks whether justice and truth are actually the same thing.
Pip can discover secrets. She can connect clues. She can expose lies.
But she cannot always control what happens after those truths are revealed.
What Does the Final Scene Mean for Pip?
The closing moments suggest Pip’s story is becoming even darker.
After everything she has experienced, she is no longer able to approach investigations with the emotional distance she once had. The deaths, threats and failures of the justice system have become personal.
A threatening message directed toward Pip also suggests that someone may now be watching her.
That setup leads directly toward the next chapter of her story.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder has now been confirmed to return for a third and final season, which is expected to adapt Holly Jackson’s As Good as Dead and continue Pip’s increasingly dangerous journey.
Final Thoughts
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 works because it does more than introduce another mystery.
Jamie Reynolds’ disappearance becomes the doorway into a story about guilt, revenge, trauma and the complicated meaning of justice.
The Stanley Forbes reveal gives the season its emotional weight, while Charlie’s actions show how easily grief can become revenge. Meanwhile, Max Hastings’ verdict reminds Pip that solving the truth does not guarantee that the system will deliver the outcome she wants.
By the finale, Pip has solved another case.
But she has also lost something important along the way: her belief that finding the truth will automatically make everything right.
And that may be the most important clue about where her story goes next.
