It has been 10 years since Zac Efron and the rest of East High made their way onto our tv screens and into our hearts with the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical. It was a smash hit spawning a concert tour, a tv movie sequel, a big screen release of its third hit and a spin off. In celebration of the songs that you know always got stuck in your head, here are some fun facts about Troy, Gabriella, and the rest of East High.

Drew Seeley actually was the singing voice for Troy Bolton in the first movie. He ended up doing the concert tour with the cast, while Zac filmed Hairspray and honed his singing skills. Drew also provided the singing voice for Sterling Knight in another Disney Channel Movie Starstruck.

2. Speaking of Sterling Knight, he actually auditioned for the role of Troy Bolton, but was turned down

Ironically, he would go on to play Zac Efron's kid in 17 Again, where they both played basketball.

3. Lucas Grabeel (Ryan) knows the choreography to "Getcha Head in the Game"

He isn't in the scene but he liked the moves so much he learned them anyway.

5. Cassie Steele was almost Gabriella

She was in the Disney Movie Full Court Miracle and they wanted her to do this one. She was cast and ready to go, but her filming Degrassi: the Next Generation ended those plans.

6. Two cast members had already worked together before

Both Lucas Grabeel and Olesya Rulin worked together on the Disney Channel Movie Halloweentown High

7. You might notice Ryan wore a lot of hats

Disney

He actually wears 9 different hats.

8. There was a duet planned for Coach Bolton and Ms. Darbus

It never came about though. They do get to sing at the end of the stage show however.

9. The cast is always ready for a reunion

They hang out pretty regularly and it is something they have discussed before. Corbin Bleu, who played Chad in the movie, has stated:

"The question isn't if we're going to do one, the question is when we're going to do one."

Hopefully someone will get in touch with Disney and get this set up, it's about time for a High School Musical reunion!
