9-1-1

Season 4 of 9-1-1 seemed to do slightly better at the actual storylines. They were definitely still ridiculous but there was no random intense arc in the middle of the season. That said the end of the season drama felt rushed and incomplete. We are starting season 5 with 9-1-1 on the fritz. Cell phone providers are apparently sending random calls and sending random alerts. This obviously starts the season off in an exciting way for our favorite first responders.

Athena Grant’s lack of hesitation when shooting bad guys is my favorite thing in the whole world. Jeffery tries to shoot Bobby and she lays like 5 bullets rapid fire into his chest and I could not love her more. Also her shooting his dick off is the greatest thing ever and the same should happen to all rapists. That whole situation also showed incredible character development for Athena. The first time she went after Jeffery she called for backup too late but this time she had backup waiting for her.

The blackout is magically fixed with no resolution to the hackers storyline? Okay…lazy. Seriously, they didn’t even try.

“Maybe you should go home first”...Eddie, that was not subtle my guy. Ana clearly knows she’s getting dumped. My girl got all anxious and babbly. Look, this is why you don’t date when your kids are young. Your potential happiness is not worth letting your child get attached and then ripping that person away from them. As a parent there is no justifiable reason for jerking around your child's emotions. Just suck it the fuck up and be alone. If you aren’t willing to put your child’s stability in front of yourself then you shouldn’t be a parent.

Maddy leaving Chim is going to send me into a spiral. This is fully unacceptable. I am far too emotionally invested in their relationship. I will CRY.

Maddy left so of course we needed a new character, so enter Claudette. Who is kind of a bitch for no reason. Also her priority 1 call? Nothing she did was any more impressive then what we’ve seen Maddy, May and Josh do for 4 seasons. She’s not special, she's just a bitch.

I think the general consensus between me and husband is that if we had this cast of characters which we care about and love, with the writing of Grey’s Anatomy we would have a show worthy of being on as long as Grey’s has…I think we can all admit that the quality has dipped in recent years and it's hard to watch a show where you hate half the characters. That is one of the only things 9-1-1 has going for it. They are good people, we truly care about all of the main characters.

There better be some character development for Claudette because I hate her guts.

Harry blaming his parents for his kidnapping is a little…misguided. Him being mad at Athena makes negative sense, him being mad at Michael makes perfect sense. Who the hell is letting strangers traipse through a house that isn’t even yours anymore? And then not pay attention to your kids while around a bunch of strangers…yeah we can blame Michael.

Harry finally starts to recover and immediately after Michael decides to propose to his boyfriend. Of course no characters are allowed happiness on this show so a disaster hits the hospital before Michael makes his proposal. All of the firefighters, led by Bobby, hold off a fire from taking the OR that David is operating in.

Claudette starts to have some character development but damn it's going to take a lot to get me to care about her existence. She came out swinging too hard. She is too much of a bitch and needs to calm it down.

Michael announces that he and David are going to Haiti together and watching Athena get emotional about him leaving is so sweet. They have been great coparents this whole series and he and Athena are great best friends.

May walking in on Bobby and Athena roleplaying is HILARIOUS. This is why you knock first.

They are giving Taylor a dramatic storyline but really up to this point she’s just been Buck’s girlfriend so I’m not really sure why we care.

My little Christopher is having nightmares and panic attacks about Christmas being perfect and I just want to hold him. He is so concerned that he is going to lose Eddie. I love this child so much he deserves to feel safe, and Eddie is such a good dad but his job is so dangerous.

I came here for GAY! Dammit, I really only started this show because I was promised gay firefighters but Buck and Taylor are really really cute. He finally has chemistry with someone other than Eddie.

Eddie is basically a social media manager for the LAFD so that he can have a safer job. Obviously this isn’t going to last long. Eddie is too good at his job to sit behind a desk. I just hope before he goes back to the 118 he has a conversation with Christopher and he figures out how to make his baby feel safe.

NO! I LITERALLY JUST ADMITTED THAT BUCK AND TAYLOR WERE CUTE AND HE CHEATS ON HER WITH SOME RANDOM ASS CHICK FIREFIGHTER. I’ve literally never been so angry. What the fuck Buckley. He absolutely kisses her back and I am so upset.

“But you are really brave and I can be brave too”...Christopher is the sweetest most adorable baby in the whole world. I love him so much.

Maddy! Oh my goodness I really missed Maddy and I love seeing that she is okay. Chim is of course still looking for her and he has followed her to Boston. It seems like she has managed to get through her PPD but let's see what happens when she gets to see Chim again. AND THEN THEY BREAK UP. Well I hate everything. They are my favorite couple and now I’m mad.

Buck and Eddie’s love for each other is my favorite thing on the planet. Christopher is scared for his dad and the first person he calls is Buck who of course comes running.

Okay season 5 was the first season where the finale felt like an appropriate finale and not a rushed ending. The last 2 episodes were still really intense but then the final episode actually feels like it closes all the loose ends instead of shoehorning in some random half-assed drama for no reason. Eddie still isn’t back at the 118 and is still working through some things and Chim and Maddy are still apart, but it is looking like they are going to get back together which makes me very happy, and my poor Buck broke up with Taylor.
