Nymphomaniac (Lars von Trier, 2013)

There is a big list of films that according to critics need to be seen at some point in life but to be fair some of them are old, slow and sometimes boring, especially if you are not a fan. However, there are a many films that are good and might be more enjoyable than say... well... others ;)

Even though this is not categorised under anything specific like "Top films that will make you cry" etc. but I hope you can find a film that will suit your mood.

I will include a list of 7 movies and series that in my opinion are very exciting to watch.

As to follow up from the cover of this story...

Nymphomaniac

by Lars von Trier, 2013

So, why is it on the list? Well, as you can guess by the name, it will be inappropriate to watch as a kid but if you are mature enough, you will definitely see it as something more than a story of a woman with a sex addiction. It has a lot of clever linkages throughout and rather than being inappropriate - it is more aesthetic.

If you wanted to watch a film about people and their attitude towards sex, then this can be a very nice movie to watch. After all, it is Lars von Trier.

Big Little Lies

This short series is about women, however(!), I believe that it is important for everyone to watch it. Dive into the acting of the famous Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern etc. Strong characters and great scenes with a bit of a plot twist in the storyline. I say - go for it.

Very easy to binge watch and very interesting to think about afterwards.

Master Of None

Do you want a very kindhearted and realistic series about love, friendships, relationships, issues in our societies? This is perfect for the mood when you just want to watch something good and nice. Awkward jokes and situations, perfect combination of different characters and relatable events.

My number one recommendation for a cozy evening. (Also is available on Netflix ;) )

Mommy

By Xavier Dolan, 2014

A movie made by a very young director (who has previously made I Killed My Mother). Join the Quebec culture with a bit of Celine Dion and a weird relationship between mother and son. I suggest to start it with an open mind and to forget the Hollywood stereotypes. A story about a teenager and his mother, struggling to go through some difficulties that arise, such as violence and anger but still filled with a lot of love.

Worth a watch and also quite heartwarming.

BlaKkKlansman

By Spike Lee, 2018

Definitely a comical take on something so important. Has its own vibe and humour. Till the very end it will strike you with every scene, especially the last ones. How can an African-American detective deal with the KKK and moreover, how did he manage to do the impossible...?

I'm sure many of you have seen it but it has to be on the list!

Moulin Rouge!

By Baz Luhrmann, 2001

Who wants some singing, humour and fun? A story about an artist that gets involved into a crazy world of spectacle. More to see than to talk about.

If you ever feel bored just put this movie on!

Big Eyes

By Tim Burton, 2014

Can you be involved in a scam without realising? For sure, but what if the person who lied to you is your husband? Although, it can get a little bit intense, this film is great for a movie night selection, starring Amy Adams.

I hope you enjoyed my list and get ready to come back for more!

Enjoy ;)
