Microsoft Office 365, obviously, is the most common business productivity package. Over millions of users around the world now use Office 365.

With O365, the user can efficiently work on the Internet, share files, spreadsheets, work from home, laptop, or mobile devices. Office 365 carries Microsoft Office to the cloud, but it also brings many types of risks. Microsoft's retention policies lack a daily backup and backup process required to restore data manually or automatically removed from the account.

Office 365 is the most recognized product of the Microsoft 365 suite and is widely used on a large scale. But there is definitely more to know about this plant product that you may not be aware of. That's why I've decided to share the top five things you didn't know about Office 365. Let's dive in!

1. Compliance - GDPR Policies

May 25, 2018, is the official date when all business activities must be complaints about GDPR. This is problematic for organizations, as they must fully consider how to categorize their data according to rules and regulations to ensure that their business activity is complacent.

You may not be aware of the Security and Compliance features built into Office365 to help you categorize and apply automated rules to the data you store in Office365 to make this process easier.

2. Security – Multi-Factor Authentication

We've all heard horror stories about businesses being "hacked" or "hacked", which is essential when someone has access to your IT infrastructure and maliciously corrupts your data or holds it back.

Businesses can do so many things to protect their server environments, but they often forget about securing Office365 from potential hacking attacks.

The best way to prevent something terrible to your Office365 data is to prevent a hacker from ever accessing your system. For this, you will need to enable Multi-Factor Authentication for all your users.

3. Collaborate on documents with real-time co-authoring

Now it is way too easy to collaborate on a more extended scale with other people. No more back and forth messages with different versions of the team document. When you or your colleagues want to collaborate on a copy, you can use real-time co-authorship to see everyone's changes as they happen.

4. Office365 Form integration with SharePoint Online

It is a product you may already be aware of to create necessary forms, surveys, and questionnaires.

However, Microsoft will be expanding new web portions of each product to create a seamless end-user experience within the SharePoint Online network.

5. Microsoft Office 365 backup

Well, many are questioning themselves about how they can protect crucial business data. To be honest, Microsoft does offer a backup for Office 365. And rare are business owners who will say that this default backup can solve their issues with keeping up their data secure. But with the default Microsoft 365 backup for Office 365, you won't be satisfied at all since it doesn't support your needs.

However, this backup may not be in favor of you and your business. To be in advance of the competition, you should consider getting a third-party backup software for Office 365, and you can easily forget about any troubles that may come by not backing up your critical files.

The company I work with, i.e., OrtoVox, is already using Office 365 backup from Altaro. We choose Altaro because they are very flexible and are always in the frontline of developing the best and most suitable software for the backup matter if it's Office 365 or VMware.

Are there any other things people should know about Office 365? Feel free to tell me about it.
