5 Surprising Things Erica Revealed in New Interview With Latizia Magazine

Erica Nlewedim has within the span of one year become quite the household name around Nigeria.

After a very entertaining stint on the Big Brother Naija Season 5 show where the actress was eventually disqualified, the brand ambassador and model hasn't stopped working and getting her name out there. Everybody knows that the Big Brother Naija hype doesn't last forever and so Erica is really using her time now to build a legacy that is lasting and sustainable even after the BBNaija hype dies down.

In her new interview with Latizia Magazine, the hardworking actress opened up about the experiences that shaped her, highlights of her career, and also delved out some surprising information about what she's currently working on.

1. Relaxer models shaped her life in a big way

You don't hear this everyday. When asked "What were some of the moments from your childhood that have shaped who you are today?", Erica said:

Watching celebrities on magazine covers and on Television, seeing models on packs of relaxer as a child and day dreaming about becoming like them.

Wow! Who would have thought all those women on relaxer bottles played such a big role in a person's life. I guess it really is true that you never know what will make significant impact on a person.

2. She's now very private

After leaving a show like Big Brother Naija where she was visible 24/7, Erica says that now, she is very private and likes to only share information where necessary. Speaking on how she negotiates what to share and what to keep private, Erica said:

I have just decided not to share things that are personal to me because I realized that when you come out of a show where everyone watched you 24/7 for a few months, they feel they know you and there are a lot of opinions about things that should be personal, so I have learnt to keep my personal life private.

3. Her biggest inspiration is Beyonce.

Speaking on who she looks up to and why, Erica said:

Beyoncé. Even though she is majorly in the music industry she inspires me with her hardwork and how she sets her mind to something and achieves it. She has been working from childhood and she has grown to become the biggest and most respected entertainer in the world. She has literally achieved everything she set her mind to and what got her this far is her drive, working smartly, being disciplined and hardworking. I feel like I can be the biggest in my own field because if she can do it, then I can do it.

4. Her next place to visit is South Africa.

After visiting Sierra Leone and Ghana where she has fans, Erica said that the next stop on her mind is South Africa which she'll be visiting really soon.

She said:

I know that I have fans in other African countries because I have been to Sierra Leone and Ghana and I have seen the reception, also my South African people have been telling me they can’t wait to see me (I’ll visit soon)

5. She's In an Upcoming Series

While everybody knows that Erica is going to be in a couple of upcoming movies, including The Wig which comes out this week, nobody knew upon till this interview that she'll also be starring in an upcoming series. When asked What is next for Erica?, she said:

More and more movies and series, establishing my business, you know what? Just watch this space.
