5 Reasons Why Chuck Deserves a Revival or a Movie
The spy series ran from 2007-2012.

Beginning in 2007, Chuck was the television spy series that could. With a talented cast that included Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, and Joshua Gomez, a stellar writing cast that whipped out crisp dialogue and showcased the intricacies of a geek learning to be a spy, the series seemed ripe for stellar ratings. Unfortunately, it faced off against Fox's powerhouse medical drama, House, and ABC's Dancing with the Stars. Such stiff competition left the show struggling for viewers.
In 2012, Chuck was cancelled, ending on a semi-cliffhanger that kept the door wide open for a movie to wrap things up. Now that fourteen years have past and revivals and reboots are commonplace, this comedy-drama deserves a second chance. There are plenty of reasons why such a revival (or movie) would work, but here are my top 5.
Chuck still has a devoted fanbase
It isn't hard to find Chuck fans on the internet. You only have to visit shte subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/chuck/) to find over 12,000 fans actively engaged in rewatches, the actors' career trajectories, and more. They dissect episodes, talk about their favorite characters, and keep the dream of more Chuck alive. And the Chuck Facebook Fanpage is 1.2 million followers strong and just as active.
The cast is onboard for a movie
In 2023, lead actor, Zachary Levi, revealed in a brief interview with SiriusXM, that everyone was onboard, and that he was actively trying to make a movie work. And he assured fans that it is happening. So the fact that the stars want this as much as the fans is a major plus.
Many streaming shows have brought less to the table than Chuck would
In the era of streaming, many shows are getting second and third chances with smaller viewer numbers than the Chuck series has on its Facebook Fanpage. Warner Bros, which owns the series, and a budget for the project seem to be the only obstacles standing in the way. If Warner Bros greenlights the show, there's no doubt fans would rally behind a Kickstarter campaign to see the movie come to fruition.
The finale left some open-ended questions
When the series wrapped, Sarah (Strahovski) was still suffering from amnesia, and though Chuck's kiss might have restored her memories, fans weren't given that information, which left plenty of us frustrated.
When a series is cancelled, often, it ends abruptly, many times on a cliffhanger (see The Glades and Angel). While the ending of Chuck doesn't technically classify as a cliffhanger because we can all believe Sarah got her memories back, we'd much rather see it actually play out on television.
There is plenty of life left in the series
Chuck was still at its prime when it was cancelled, and there were so many more stories left to be told. Would Chuck and Sarah have a baby? Would Morgan become a top-notch spy like John Casey (Baldwin)? Would the crew at Buy More ever find out that Chuck was a spy? What would happen if they did?
Though Chuck covered a lot of ground in its five short seasons, the terrain had plenty of territory left. Spy series have so many routes to travel. Take, for instance, the current successful Amazon Prime show, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Having been renewed for a second season after earning sixteen Primetime Emmy Award nominations, the series proved that viewers are still invested in the dangerous missions and awe-inspiring locales as well as the strength of a good story.
And when we look back on Chuck, that is one thing that can honestly be said. It told a good story. Were there some episodes that weren't quite as good as others? Of course. That happens in every series, but overall, Chuck found success in the eyes of the viewers and now, almost a decade and a half later, those viewers still want more.
