With all the anime genres out there one of the best ones I have found that I always find to provide a good time are the harem anime. Not only are they usually pretty lighthearted and comedic, they also provide an exciting story to get you hooked. After binge-watching a couple of serious anime like Re:Zero and Elfen Lied, it's nice to be able to switch it up with a good ole' harem. Here are some of my top harem anime that keep me hooked on the genre.

5. High School DxD

After just recently completing this series this summer, I have fallen in love with the perverted antics of Issei Hyoudou, the main protagonist, who ends up joining the Occult Research Club after he is brought back to life by Rias Gremory to serve her and her devil family. Right off the bat I could tell that this anime would be filled with comedic gold as Issei strives to be the harem king and his perverted tendencies that often would get him into trouble, end up saving him and the women he is surrounded by in the worst of situations.

This anime is very revealing in nature, and not in any regards to the plot. If you are looking for a harem that isn't afraid to bare a little skin but still keeps you watching for the story, then this is the one for you.

4. To Love-Ru

Another science fiction anime where a young teenage boy ends up surrounded by beautiful girls all fighting for his love. In this particular anime it revolves around Rito Yūki, a very shy young teenager, who can't seem to confuse to his dream girl. One day while taking a bath a mysterious naked devil-tailed girl appears out of the water, declaring that she will marry him instead of the marriage candidates that her father picked back on her home planet.

This was one of the first harem anime I really got hooked on as the the humor was spot on and the story was really well done.

3. Zero no Tsukaima

In a fantasy world where going to school for magic is the norm, Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière stands out as she is self-absorbed and can't seem to cast magic properly. During a summoning ritual in class, Louis ends up creating an explosion where a teenage boy, Saito Hiraga, appears out of the smoke. Saito becomes her slave as her familiar doing her chores. Thus starts the crazy adventures Saito now has to adjust to in this new fantasy world as well as meeting the other female mages that join them on their adventures.

The great thing about this anime is that it doesn't solely focus on the male protagonist. It focuses on both Saito and Louise as they both struggle with the new predicament that they are in and their growing feelings for one another. Also the story is great and with four seasons the excitement just keeps on coming.

2. Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?

Life was pretty normal for high school teenager Ayumu Aikawa. It isn't until he is killed on his way home from the convenience store by a serial killer that his whole life changes. A necromancer named Eucliwood Hellscythe brings him back to life, with a catch, he is now a zombie. He also ends up stealing a magical girl's outfit and obtaining her powers and ends up having to fight evil creatures in her place. For Aikawa, life as a zombie consists of many adventures compared to his life as a normal high school kid.

This anime was really good. The whole plot was interesting right off the bat and the secrets that lie with the girls that end up around him keep the series exciting. It's your normal harem, just a bit on the undead side.

1. Ouran Koukou Host Club

Straying away from the all female harems in this list, we get my all time favorite anime Ouran Koukou Host Club, a reverse harem! The story revolves around a young girl named Haruhi Fujioka who ends up getting a scholarship to a very prestigious school where the students come from wealthy families so it's hard for her to fit in being a commoner. She happens to stumble upon the school's host club filled with beautiful teenage boys who rule all the girls' hearts in the school. Breaking one of their priceless vases causes Haruhi to become indebted to the host club as she must pay off her debt by dressing as a boy and becoming a host herself.

I have both watched the anime and read the manga and both are fantastic. There were times where I was crying I was laughing so hard watching the anime. So if you are looking for a harem that centers around a young oblivious girl who catches the hearts of an unsuspecting host club, this is the anime for you.
