5 Anime that are a must see!

I have had a long lover affair with all things Japanese. My paternal grandmother was Japanese so it came natural to be interested in the life and culture. Part of that culture is Anime. Needless to say like a good little nerd I have been watching Anime for many years now. I'm not a comic con cosplayer level Anime enthusiast, but definitely just a step below. In my many years of viewing I have found five Anime series that I think are worth watching over and over. Down below they will be listed in no particular order. I will try to give you enough to get excited about the series like me without giving it all away. So without further ado here they are!

1: Jyu-oh Sei: In the distant future humans have left Earth and have gone into space to colonize other planets. One of the planets is reserved for criminals and is used as a collective dumping spot for the worst people in the universe. Twin brothers Thor and Rai are framed in the death of their parents and are dropped onto the planet as punishment for their "crimes". The world has developed its own systems of government and culture. The planet itself is the prison so there are no guards or anything. Just the criminals and the wild untamed jungles. As the years pass it becomes apparent there are more secrets surrounding the brothers and the planet than there seemed at first.

2: Shin Sekai Yori: Again in the distant future humanity has resolved all conflict and as a result humans have gained psychic abilities. 5 school age friends are happy in their utopian society until one day on a school camping trip they get lost. They stumble upon a forbidden library that has knowledge of the old world. The discovery sets their lives on a new course as over the years they delve deeper and deeper into the dark secrets of their society. Like what causes demons? Why do kids go missing so often? Where did the monster rats come from? As they learn more about the secrets it will test their bonds as friends and their own moral compasses on the right path to choose for their future and their world's.

3: Rising of the Shield Hero: Four young men are summoned from modern day Japan to a fantasy world to help fight off swarms of monsters. Each man is assigned a weapon on arrival and is unable to use any other weapon. They are called the Bow Hero, the Sword Hero, the Spear Hero, and the Shield Hero. During the first night in this new world the Shield Hero is accused of trying to sexually assault the king's daughter. As a result he is stripped of everything and scorned by all the citizens. He is informed that the only reason he is not being executed is because the death of one hero would result in the death of all the heroes. The story follows him as he learns to survive and thrive in the world that I was pulled into. In the end he must decide if this world that has been so cruel to him is worth saving or if he should let the monsters overwhelm it.

4: Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba: During the Taisho period young Tanjiro's family is attacked and slaughtered by demons while he is busy running errands in a nearby village. When he returns he finds only his sister Nezuko is still alive.....as a demon. Demon hunters soon show up to kill his sister and track down the demons that killed his family and turned Nezuko. Tanjiro fights back to save his sister, and despite not being able to defeat the slayer he was impressed enough to put a magic spell on Nezuko to temporarily spare her. He informs Tanjiro where a trainer for the demon slayer corps is located, and instructs him to go there; however, he warns Tanjiro that if his sister ever takes the life of a human he will personally hunt Tanjiro down. The story then revolves around Tanjiros attempts to become a demon slayer so he can find a way to return Nezuko to being a human.

5: Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit: A young prince possessed by a demon. A mother's desperate gambit to save her only son. A traveling mercenary from a foreign land. The story follows Balsa, the mercenary, as she seeks to hide and protect the prince from those seeking to kill him and thus the demon inside him. Balsa must travel the land teaching the young prince to behave as a normal citizen while looking out for assassins for him and from her past along with helping him hide the evidence of the demon possession. As the story progresses the truth of the demon inside the prince is discovered forcing Balsa to come out of hiding in order to confront their greatest enemy yet.

I love these five anime. I can not tell you how many times I have watched them over and over. It was a struggle trying to describe them in a way that would sound exciting and enticing without giving too much away. So next chance you get sit back and enjoy one of these anime. I promise they will be well worth the watch.
