It's not the end of the world.

The Voice Nigeria season 3 concluded this past Saturday.

(Skip this paragraph if you don’t want spoilers: The winner of Season 3 was announced as Esther, with Kpee and Eazzie being runner-ups. Understandably a lot of people, including myself, while we were so happy for Esther, Kpee, and Eazzie couldn’t believe that fan favorite Naomi Mac didn’t make it into the top 3. Even during the show, the surprise was very palpable.)

All hope is not lost though for those people who went on to not win the competition. While winning The Voice Nigeria is great and the dream every single contestant who comes on the show has, it is not the end of the world if one does not win. Today, we’ll be counting down 4 people who went on to fame and success even though they did not win the competition during their time on The Voice Nigeria.

Are you ready to see who they are? Then let’s go!

1. DNA Twins

You might know the DNA Twins as being part of arguably the biggest record label in Nigeria – Mavin Records. But what you might not know is that the duo was actually discovered through the show The Voice Nigeria. According to their artiste page on the MAVIN Records website:

DNA, as identical twins Clint & Blair Roberts are known, first captured the imagination as natural golden-voiced heartthrobs on the Nigerian talent show, The Voice. While they didn’t win, they had amassed a massive fanbase that wanted more. With fans excited for their next step, they signed to Mavin Records in 2017.

Since then, the DNA Twins have gone on to release songs such as How Can and Adanna. They also currently have over 100,000 followers on their verified Instagram page.

2. Nonso Bassey

Another act who came unto the show and went quite far in the competition is singer and actor, Nonso Bassey. His voice captured viewers of the show but unfortunately for Nonso, the votes weren’t enough to land him a win on his season.

Shortly after leaving the show though, Nonso booked a recurring role in Africa Magic tele-series Battleground. Since then, his acting career has shot to catastrophic heights. He has gone on to act in a number of projects including From Lagos With Love, Smart Money Woman, and this year’s blockbuster movie La Femme Anjola starring alongside Rita Dominic in which he played the lead character.

3. Chike

Despite not winning his season of The Voice Nigeria, Chike has become the story that every The Voice Nigeria aspirant looks up to in the off-chance that they do not win the show. Chike after his time on the show, also booked an acting spot on Africa Magic series Battleground, but unlike Nonso Bassey whose acting career shot up catastrophically after that show, Chike’s music is what did it for him. After a couple of underperforming songs, he struck gold with the release of his Boo of the Booless album – an album that has spun such hits as If You No Love, Roju, and the mega smash-hit Running (To You) featuring Simi.

Also, do you want to know a fun fact? – Chike’s blind audition performance of Roses (the video above) is the highest viewed video on The Voice Nigeria’s official Youtube page. That video has 3.7 Million views, the second most popular video after it has 1.7 Million views.

Talk about impact!

4. Zicsaloma

Everybody knows Zicsaloma for his comedy. In fact, only very few people have any idea that Zicsaloma actually competed on The Voice Nigeria and had every intention to make it as a musician. But you see what they say about one door closing and another door opening in this life?

Instead of getting stuck trying to pursue a music career that wasn’t taking off, Isaac Aloma delved into making comedy skits and videos on social media and now, years after his time on The Voice Nigeria, he has 830,000 followers on Instagram and is one of the most popular internet comedians in the game.

Losing The Voice Nigeria is not the end of the world. If music isn’t working, one can always try out something else or if they're really convicted, they can stick to the music. Who knows how this life is going to play out for any of us? The key is to keep trying and to keep going. I am so excited to see what this new crop of contestants from Season 3 go on to do. I’ll definitely be keeping an extra eye out for Esther, Naomi Mac, Kpee, Kitay, Eazzie and Dapo’s careers. I am such a fan of all these people.

That’s All.
