2023s Most Anticipated Movies

With each new year brings a new set of films to be excited for. There are plenty of thrills, chills and drama to be excited for in 2023. Let's take a look at some of my picks for the most anticipated films of the year.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie- This one looks fun for kids of all ages. I cannot wait to share this experience with my kids and dive back into the world that filled my childhood with endless hours of fun. This film looks visually stunning and features a very talented voice cast that should entertain both children and adults alike. Releasing Friday April 7th.

Mission Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part 1- Tom Cruise is about as bankable an action star one can find these days. Coming off the success of Top Gun Maverick the stakes and stunts will be even bolder in this new action thriller. Cruise is no slouch and loves to go big or go home when it comes to action. I expect that trend will continue here with this one and both critics and audiences alike will name it one of the best action movies of the year. Set for release on Friday July 14th

Oppenheimer- Christopher Nolan is coming back to the big screen in a film that was apparently able to recreate the original detonation of the atomic bomb. It features a slew of castings that almost everyone will recognize. That coupled with the historical based story should be enough to secure Mr. Nolan one of his best films to date. It should be a lock to dominate the box office, unless Barbie has something to say about it. Oppenheimer releases Friday July 21st.

The Equalizer 3- Botb Equalizer films have been entertaining in their own right and I am sure Denzel Washington would not have agreed to return unless the script was good. It will be interesting to see where this franchise will choose to go next as details surrounding this project have been very minimal to date. This is a film where all trust is being given to the producers and cast to create the magic we all crave when going to the movies. Currently set for release on Friday September 1st.

Dune Part 2- I fell in love with the Dune world after watching Denis Villeneuves first film. He makes you want more of a world so rich with its own lore. The cast was perfection and this film should do more to highlight Zendaya's character. It also adds Florence Pugh and Austin Butler who are both bonafide stars at this point. I cannot see any reason why Dune Part 2 should fail in anyway it is easily one of my top picks for film of the year on my own personal lists. How could it not be? After how great the first one was. Releasing November 3rd, 2023.

Rebel Moon- This concept was originally meant to be a Star Wars pitch courtesy of Zack Snyder that he has since turned into his own original space epic. That alone has me intrigued and the cast features some faces that always elevate films for me personally. Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou and Anthony Hopkins are top billed and I want to see what Snyder brings to the sci-fi genre. I hope this film ultimately rivals Star Wars and becomes it's own universe so we can get more competition going among streamers. Set for release December 22nd.

Killers of The Flower Moon- Martin Scorsese is reteaming with frequent collaborators Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Deniro. Add in the continued resurgence of Brendan Fraser, a historical setting and Scorsese is primed to add another instant classic to his legacy. It is based on the novel Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. It will tackle the real life events that inspired American Journalist David Grann to write the novel in the first place. There is no release date as of yet but the film will be released digitally via Apple Studios with co-distribution by Paramount Pictures.

Those are just some of the many films in 2023 that have peaked my interest. Of course there are many more that have mainstream popularity attached to them. All of these movies and more will continue to gain hype as the year goes on. I for one cannot wait to see which films end up on my best of 2023 list come years end.
