The theme of the home is medievalist with a life-sized knight in shining armor "guarding" the large double doors.

When buying the home, Perry said in a statement "I wanted this house to be vast. I wanted to make a statement, not in any grand or boastful way, but to let people know what God can do when you believe."

The home is surrounded by rolling gardens and has a large driveway at the front with a feature fountain with tall trees and high gates.

A known Rolls-Royce fan, Tyler Perry owns a Rolls-Royce wraith that features some cutting edge technology and traditional styling.

Purchased in in 2009 along with another island in The Exuma Cays area of the Bahamas, its understood he has built a tropical/Balinese-style home with several guest bungalow on the island.

Islands like this typically go for around $20-30 million dollars and the house being built is thought to have around 14,000-square-feet of space.

Its understood that Tyler Perry purchased the island for his 40th birthday and plans to use it as a home away from home when he wants to get away from it all.

Other celebrities who own islands in the area include Aga Khan and country singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill who joined early arrivals Johnny Depp and David Copperfield.

It would appear that the remoteness of the islands including a lack of airports, celebrity chef restaurants, nightlife and of course paparazzi are appealing to a large group of super rich celebs like Tyler Perry.

When your the most successful African American filmmaker in history, you need somewhere to make your movies and what better place to build your studios than on an old Army Base.
