10 Digimon Worthy of Being Partner Digimon in a Digimon Series

Over the decades many Digimon have been honoured to be chosen as the partner Digimon to one of the chosen heroes of the series. Here we will look at 10 Digimon worthy of being featured in a series as a partner Digimon.

The Digidestined and their partners from Digimon Adventure

The rival monster franchise to Pokémon, Digimon is a franchise with as long a history as the pocket monster catch series. The primary difference between the two franchise's anime series is that Digimon will go from series to series with new characters and each partnered with their own Digimon partner. This has allowed a varied amount of Digimon to shine in their own series, but there are many that are worthy of their time in the spotlight. Here we will look at ten Digimon that could easily be used as partner Digimon in a series.

The Wild Card - SnowAgumon

SnowAgumon

Okay, this one is a sneaky extra addition. Not part of the list, but one I thought I would put in here, SnowAgumon. This is simply down to Agumon being a partner Digimon already featured several times within the franchise. However, each of these have been fire based dragon motif Digimon. SnowAgumon would change things up and allow the creators to play with ice dragon variants of the ever famous Greymon lines seen already. So it is simple, it is here as it is familiar but could introduce variants completely opposite to what we have already seen.

10. Kotemon

Kotemon

Kotemon is a Digimon that feels like it would be a good partner to one of the group of chosen children. Perhaps not given to the leader or even the one considered second in command. But with a swordsman motif he could be given to the disciplined and logical member of the group. The one that is likely to use their intelligence to calculate the best way to attack a foe in battle. The evolutions could allow for a play into seeing other types of warriors in Digimon form and bring a warrior Digimon into a mix for a series.

09. Bearmon

Bearmon

Bearmon is a perfect candidate for the Digimon given to the second of the group of children, essentially the Matt (Yamato) Digimon of the group. It could be a great mascot to cheer on and support the lead Digimon of the series. Also, if it were for the second of the group, it would allow for some interesting evolutions away from what could be expected. Maybe a bear variant of a Leomon or Weregarurumon which is a powerful bipedal fighter to use mighty strikes and its powerful claws in battle.

08. Vorvomon

Vorvomon

Vorvomon would be a Digimon given to the "sixth ranger" of the Digimon group. As it is pretty normal for an additional child and their partner to join the fray. Typically, now these additional members will have walked close to the dark side. Vorvomon gives great options for darker evolutions when being used for evil purposes and then powerful reformed black dragon variants for once on the side of the chosen children. This would also mean it would be unlikely for the lead to hold the dragon type Digimon on the team if it were given to the additional member of the group.

07. FanBeemon

FanBeemon

One type of partner rarely seen are bug type Digimon. FanBeemon literally looks like it should have a child partner in a show. It also has the added bonus of being portrayed as either male or female, allowing for it to be an option for either a boy or girl child to receive. If they made a FanBeemon male it should evolve into a powerful soldier bee form through its evolution, but if female they could make it evolve into a queen bee in its final form as a ruler of insectoid type Digimon.

06. Monodramon

Monodramon

Now, yes technically Monodramon was the rookie form of Cyberdramon, the partner of Ryo from Digimon Tamers. But it was never really in this form in the show and would pretty much maintain its ultimate level of Cyberdramon. So Monodramon is still fair game. Where it was never really seen it also allows for the option for it to be given new evolutions away from the Cyberdramon line. With its arms already acting as wings, perhaps a wyvern themed dragon to allow it to stand out from other dragon partners of the past.

05. Pomumon

Pomumon

Girls in Digimon typically get either a bird Digimon or plant Digimon. Well Pumomon kind of gives them both in one Digimon. So why not make it a partner Digimon and play with some bird/plant hybrid evolutions. It has also been a while since a female character was given a new bird look Digimon, so it would be a refreshing change from the standard plant type that is more commonly seen.

04. Lunamon & Coronamon

L-R: Lunamon & Chronamon

This duo I paired together as they represent the Sun & Moon. So, it seems like this pair would be ideal for a series featuring a brother and sister in the group of children. The pair do have a set line of evolution that does play into their themes of the Sun & Moon. However, this is not set in stone and they could be given new themes of evolution. Lunamon could be given an evolution line playing on dreams while Chornamon one playing of ambition. This would then allow them a chance to shine away from the computer games.

03. Swimmon

Swimmon

Now one thing never done is giving one of the chosen children a fish type Digimon. Swimmon would be a great candidate due to its long fins. It looks like it could also fly, which would justify how it would travel with the group of children. It would also allow a series to feature some true creative aquatic Digimon. Imagine this little fish Digimon evolving into some mystical aquatic creature, something never seen in a Digimon for a chosen child.

02. Ryudamon

Ryudamon

Where a dragon is loved for the leader, Ryudamon has a pretty phenomenal dragon line ready to be used. However, in its rookie form it almost looks like a furry mammal in some armour. This grants options on going with what is known and expected or presenting a new alternate evolution line for Ryudamon. They could go down a route of a warrior and the armour become more elaborate and powerful the further down the evolution line it goes.

01. Bulucomon

Bulucomon

As mentioned at the beginning, the leader will typically have a fire power Digimon and it will typically go down a dragon theme. Bulucomon is the opposite of this. Instead it is ice and looks like a fearsome beast. It would fit so well with a leader's partner Digimon for a group of children. It would also be a refreshing change to see a complete opposite of what is expected when it comes to the Digimon the leader of the children will have.

What are your thoughts? What Digimon have you always wanted to see in the franchise paired with one of the chosen children?
