10 Actors Who Could Play Red Robin in the Batman Solo Film
Red Robin needs an actor who looks on the younger side with a slimmer build for the Batman Solo Film—like these 10 actors.
With Carrie Kelly rumored to be the current Robin in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, then there should have been four previous Robins. I thought I would do 10 actor lists on actors who could play these four members of the Bat-Family (Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, and Stephanie Brown's Batgirl), and I hope you enjoy!
1. Logan Lerman
I think that Logan Lerman comes up the most in conversations about Tim Drake. He's perfect for the young adult Red Robin that we would be seeing, he is the perfect kind of actor to play Robin if general, and he can pull off an intelligent role. The main thing people don't realize about Red Robin is that he's more intellectual, and tries to solve problems with his mind before his fists. This makes people think that his Robin is boring, but it's refreshing to see a crime fighter who relies on more that just his fighting skills. I mean, this guy can solve cases before Batman, and Logan Lerman just screams that appeal to me.
2. Dave Franco
Dave Franco did great playing a smart frat boy in Neighbors, and I think that he could be capable in an action role, much like his brother. He has a great body already, and he has the perfect look for a Robin type character. While Dave is reaching stardom from his supporting comedy roles, he's just waiting to break out into an action role. If James Franco can be believed as Green Goblin, then Dave can be believed as Red Robin.
3. Ansel Elgort
Elgort is hot property in Hollywood after doing so many blockbuster films such as The Fault In Our Stars and Divergent, so DC picking him up as Tim Drake could draw a bigger crowd to the box office. He's the right age to play the young Red Robin, he has the look for the young ward, and if he got in shape for the role, he could give us a great performance of a character previously thought of as boring.
4. Taron Egerton
Egerton is another actor that's exploding right now. He just has a certain charisma that appeals to a character like this. Not to mention, if he's still in the shape he was in for Kingsman: The Secret Service, he could probably start filming now. He just has everything needed for this character already, there wouldn't have to be any changes to made to his look or body, and that should say something about his qualifications to play this character.
5. Shawn Ashmore
With the X-Men Series coming to a foreseeable end, I think it's safe to use Ashmore in a fan cast. I don't know why, but I feel like Shawn just has the perfect mixture of charisma and charm to pull off this character. He has a superhero body from playing Iceman, and a role like this could be a different speed for the actor. And if Ashmore thinks he's too big for a role like Red Robin, they could always offer it to his twin brother Aaron, who's just as good of an actor.
6. Nicholas Hoult
A more appropriate age fit for the character, Hoult can also play charming and charismatic, as shown by his role of Beast. He has the body for the character, he's only 25, and he's used to playing smart roles. At 6'3", he would not only be believed as the smart hero, but he has the height and stature for the role too. It's not required for Red Robin to be built, but it wouldn't hurt.
7. Daniel Radcliffe
Because why not? I've always wanted Radcliffe to play Robin, so why not Red Robin? He can pull off smart and charming, and people would love to see the movie if Harry Potter is one of the Robins. Granted he's only 5'5", doesn't have the body for it, and has a British accent, but if he got in shape and with a few months of accent training, he could do the role.
8. Josh Peck
After Peck completely transformed, he's perfectly suited for Tim Drake. He's good at playing smart characters, he's at the right age and body stature, and he's not too big of an actor for the role.
9. Josh Hutcherson
Hutcherson has the body for the character already, and despite his height, is perfectly suited for the role. He has the charm and charisma, he's at the perfect age, and he looks like the boy scout type.
10. Asa Butterfield
Asa would be perfect for a slimmer and much younger Red Robin. He's great at playing smart characters, he has the look for the character, and he is a very talented actor, yet wouldn't be considered too famous for the role.
