Why Among Us Became So Popular during the past few months?

Among us is an online, fun, and easy to understand multiplayer game. Even Though it’s reign started just 2 or 3 months before, it was released on Google Play in the year 2018.

You can just look at the google trends report to see the growth in the popularity of the game just in the past few months.

What is the game about?

The game can be played with 4-10 players. They will be divided into crewmates and imposters.

For the crewmates to win, either they have to complete all their tasks before the imposters kill them or they have to find the imposters and kick them out into space during the emergency meetings.

Emergency Meetings can be held when someone finds a dead body of a crewmate or using their own emergency meeting limit.

For the imposters to win, they have to kill everyone before they complete their tasks. If the number of imposters becomes greater than or equal to the number of crewmates then the impostors win.

How did the game become so popular in the past few months?

1. The main reasons for its popularity accounted to more and more twitch and youtubers starting to stream the game and playing together with their friends. Anyone following the gaming community of twitch or youtube would love to see Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye and Mr.Beast play together. Thanks to their large follower base, the game started receiving an immense boost in it’s popularity.

2. The game is so immersive and fun. It became one of the best games to play with your friends or family. This quarantine has hit us all hard in a really bad way and this game helped us connect with our school/college buddies in an effective and fun way.

3. It somehow affects your mind to keep on playing. I am not able to stop the game before I become the imposter.

4. There is no loser in the game. Everyone has fun, as far as I have played and as far as I have seen in the streams, friends take betrayal in a pretty funny way, lol.

5. The fear you get when you think that you are going to die first. But even if you die first, it’s not like you have to wait for others to complete the game. You will still be able to complete the tasks or you can also just goof around the ship seeing other crewmates die.

6. Even if your friends are busy, you can play with a normal lobby and the game will connect you with random players around the world. I didn't find the normal lobby to be that entertaining as we will not be able to talk and we need to communicate via text messages.

But when you play with friends or family with your discord server on, then it would be super super fun.

Not only Among Us became one of the most downloaded games in Google Play, Apple store this year, it is also one of the most watched streams on Twitch this year.

Who wouldn’t want to see Offline TV, Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye, Mr.Beast and Corpse in a single place playing together, arguing and having fun. Their funny streams and arguments acted as a perfect stress buster for us during the quarantine.

The third impostering, the mind games by different top class players added to the entertainment.

The game devs must be so happy to see their game which was created in 2018 to succeed in 2020 as one of the most played games ever. They were a step ahead of their times to create this perfect quarantine game.
