We can't talk about cricket without mentioning two of the most legendary players of all time, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Both cricketers have made immense contributions to the success of the Indian Cricket Team with their unique strengths and achievements. Let's find out who is cricket king.

Sachin Tendulkar is the living epitome of cricket and is fondly called the “God of Cricket” by his fans. He started his career at the age of 16 and changed the trajectory of Indian cricket with his devotion to the game. With innumerable records registered under his name, he still stands high among present-day cricketers even after years of his retirement.

If Sachin is the “God of Cricket” then Kohli is the king. Continuing the legacy of iconic Indian cricketers, Kohli has made his name reach newer heights with his evergreen aggressive batting on the field. Virat Kohli has recently received the award of “ICC Cricketer of the Decade” and his ability to excel in all formats is what makes him the king of modern cricket.

Why is Kohli known as “King Kohli”?

Let's take a look at the elements that make Virat Kohli, King of the cricket world.

While Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run-scorer in Tests and ODIs, an achievement bagged in 24 years of his career. Virat Kohli is trying to catch up swiftly, while he is still in the prime of his career. The latter is the leading scorer in T20Is.

If we compare the two after their 500th matches, Kohli has better stats than Tendulkar in many aspects.

While Virat Kohli has scored 25582 runs, Sachin scored only 24874 runs at this stage. Moreover, Sachin had 57 not outs and Virat had 82.

Sachin scored 75 centuries and 114 fifties, whereas Virat is leading here as well with 76 centuries and 131 fifties.

Sachin had an average of 48.48 after his 500th match. On the other hand, Virat Kohli averages 53.63.

Sachin has a top score of 248 not out and Virat’s is 254 not out.

With the above stats, Virat’s domination as the best cricketer in the current cricket scene can't be put into question. Being in his prime, Virat has been and will be crashing even more cricket world records. As former Australian cricketer Dean Jones once said " Virat Kohli is the new king of world cricket”, he is reigning the throne of cricket both nationally and internationally.

Virat Kohli is popular among his fans for his fine batting style and aggressive temperament on the field. He is the most followed cricketer in the world with over 250 million followers on Instagram, not to mention he is the only Asian to achieve this milestone.

To conclude, it would be unfair to compare the two legendary cricketers as both have bestowed their brilliance to Indian cricket in their times. Considering the constant advancement in different aspects of sports, it would be unjust to label one of them as better than the other. so finally, who is called king of cricket? Sachin has reigned the cricket world in his time and has registered his name in golden words in the history of world cricket. On the other hand, Virat is still on his way to reach newer heights and the possibilities to set new cricket records are never-ending for him.
