U4GM How to Find PoE 2 Book of Specialization

U4GM How to Find PoE 2 Book of Specialization

By Asik Gxbx HdjdhPublished 6 months ago • 3 min read

In Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2), the Book of Specialization is a key progression item that allows players to gain two weapon set passive skill points. These points are unique because they only apply to specific weapon loadouts, enabling players to create flexible builds for different combat situations—such as switching between melee and ranged setups.

Since weapon set passive points are limited and essential for build optimization, knowing how to reliably obtain these books is an important part of character development.

What the Book of Specialization Does

The Book of Specialization is a quest-based consumable item. When used, it grants:

+2 Weapon Set Passive Skill Points

These points differ from standard passive skill points. They are tied to specific weapon sets, allowing players to design multiple configurations within a single character build.

For example:

A defensive sword-and-shield setup

A high-damage ranged setup

Each character can obtain up to 24 weapon set passive skill points, with the Book of Specialization being the primary source.

How to Get the Book of Specialization

There are two main ways to obtain this item:

1. Completing Side Quests (Guaranteed Rewards)

Certain side quests in PoE 2 directly reward the Book of Specialization upon completion. These are the most reliable sources.

The Lost Lute (Act 1)

Location: Ogham Farmlands

Quest Giver: Una

Objective: Retrieve Una’s lost lute from nearby enemies

This is one of the earliest opportunities to obtain the book. It is easy to complete and ideal for early build development.

Tradition’s Toll (Act 2)

Location: Deshar Region

Objective: Complete a Serpent Clan ritual task

This mid-game quest provides another guaranteed Book of Specialization and helps strengthen your build progression during Act 2.

Clearing the Way (Act 2/3 progression quest)

Location: Khari Crossing

Objective: Defeat two bosses:

Ak Thi, the Final Sting

Anun Dr, the Sandworm

Reward NPC: Risu (Khari Bazaar)

After defeating both bosses and completing the quest, you will receive a Book of Specialization.

2. Boss Drops (Farmable Source)

Some bosses have a chance to drop the Book of Specialization. These are not guaranteed but can be farmed repeatedly.

The Crowbell (Act 1)

Location: Hunting Grounds

Notes: Easy early-game boss with moderate drop chance

A good starting farm target due to low difficulty and quick respawn potential.

Kabala, Constrictor Queen (Act 2)

Location: Keth Region / Serpent Clan territory

Notes: Moderate difficulty, better loot table than early bosses

A solid mid-game farming option while progressing through Act 2.

Mighty Silver Fist (Act 3)

Location: Jungle Ruins

Notes: Higher difficulty but improved drop potential

This is one of the better farming targets for players in the mid-game who want additional books.

Other Sources of Weapon Set Passive Points

While the Book of Specialization is the most consistent source, a few other items also grant weapon set passive points:

Sacrificial Heart

Drops from Vaal Goliaths (Act 3 areas)

Used at ritual sites to gain +2 weapon set points

Mist-Shrouded Tome

Rewarded from specific quests

Grants weapon set passive points

Tattoo of Hinekora

Rare item providing similar bonuses

These sources are less consistent but useful for maximizing total points.

Tips for Efficient Farming

To make the most of your progression:

Prioritize quest rewards first

Guaranteed books from quests should always be your first focus.

Farm bosses while progressing

Instead of repeating runs only for loot, combine boss farming with leveling and map clearing.

Manage inventory space

Books take minimal space but should still be stored or used promptly.

Plan your weapon sets carefully

Allocate passive points based on intended weapon roles (defensive vs offensive setups).

The Book of Specialization is a core item for building flexible and powerful characters in Path of Exile 2. By completing key side quests and farming specific bosses, players can steadily collect all available weapon set passive points.
