Titan Announce ‘Life Is Strange’ Comic Book Series

Titan Comics has announced that it will be launching a new series based on the hit game, Life is Strange.

Titan has, in the past, brought many a fan-favourite game to the shelves of comic book stores the world over. Past successes include Bloodborne, Dawn of War, Dishonored and Assassin’s Creed.

Joining the line-up this year is Square Enix’ Life is Strange, a popular episodic graphic narrative game that follows the journey of Max Caulfield, a photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time.

The game focuses heavily on the Butterfly Effect and leads to an adventure that is positively inspired and rewardingly original.

In the original game (2015), Max is attempting to save her town from an impending storm. She has a premonition of its coming and is forced to act in order to save the population from impending doom.

Throughout the series, the player’s actions impacted heavily on the narrative outcome, which means that the longevity of the story is masterful. The ability to rewind time at any moment allows the player to revert back to the base story at any time, meaning that experimentation and whimsical choices make the game a pleasure and thrill to explore.

What made the game especially enthralling was the level of interaction that the player could have with the world. Dialogue exchanges with NPCs could be rewound and restructured, meaning that Max could have multiple conversations with one NPC.

It was followed by a prequel called Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, which follows the story of Chloe Price and is set three years before the original. Back in Arcadia Bay, sixteen-year-old Chloe Price and her schoolmate, Rachel Amber, follow another fantastic narrative that allows the player to influence the outcome of the story in varying ways.

This iteration relies on the comradery of friendship and the trust that can be found within the closeness. The second iteration was received well by the community and will likely influence the comic series in many ways.

The stills that came from the second game were also great. The comic can certainly source great inspiration from these points, as well as the side-line quests that were more diverse in this game over the original.

So far, Titan has not released any further details surrounding the new series, but we can expect to hear more very soon. We may even hear more at C2E2 next week in Chicago. So far, the only thing we really know for sure is that it will launch with a four-part miniseries.

That and the image of Blackwell Academy, which we assume will play a pivotal role in the upcoming series.

This announcement was swiftly followed by the announcement of the brand-new Doctor Who series. Titan Comics are clearly determined to roll out a heavy development cycle this year. The new Doctor Who series will be called The Road to the Thirteenth Doctor.

In the wake of the announcement of the TV series, Thirteenth Doctor, being portrayed this year by the brilliant Jodie Whittaker, Titan will be launching a series that will recount the adventures of the previous Doctors, starting with number ten and moving forward to thirteen.

They also announced that the official Doctor Who Comic Day, this year, will land on Saturday, Nov. 24th.

So, this year will be full of new comics coming from Titan Comics. A real year of adventure for all—but for Arcadia Bay and Max Caulfield, the adventure is just about to begin.
