Splinterlands: Building my Rebellion Portfolio

Strategy for building rebellion collection

Since the launch of Splinterlands I always make it a point to have a balanced set of cards from each new collection that is launched by Splinterlands. This I think is crucial as collection brings with it some special traits and some powerful cards. Not having a diverse portfolio with cards from each collection will mean you will be at a handicap while fighting in the Wild mode.

This time I have got a delayed start in building my Rebellion collection as I moved most of the funds I had into setting up the 3 land plots I have. There were several one time starting costs like buying cores, staking DEC, buying the initial batch of Grain to get my Grainery started etc.

Now with my plots all setup I am going to focus on building up my Rebellion collection. I recently bought a bunch of packs and will share which were the lucky pulls I had but before that I will talk about what is going to be my strategy while building my portfolio.

Build it Slow!!

One mistake I did with Chaos collection was I bought many cards to level up the particular monster just because it looked good and later I realised I was not using some of them at all in the fights and some of them were not effective in improving my win rate at all.

This time I will buy the cards slowly after I am convinced about the utility of the cards. Only after I experience a card being handy in the battles will I invest in levelling it up.

Summoners First

This is a principle I follow with all collections. Summoners are vital to having a good collection. If I stack up a lot of legendaries and gold foils they will be useless unless I have a levelled up summoner to use them to their full potential.

I am taking a note of which summoners I have got from the packs and which summoners I ill need to buy from the market so my collection is complete.

Gold Foils are Key!

I used to think the only advantage of having Gold Foils was that as they are glittery, shiny and rare they are like good investments to hold as with time their value keeps pumping. I soon realised that besides being shiny they also have a lot of utility like making you earn more SPS in your battles. They also have much higher points so boost your production rates much higher in any building you setup in your land. There are fights in brawls where are slots only for Gold Foils.

I have made it a point that I will pick up a good number of gold foils in the Rebellion collection.

Let's Open those Packs!!

I just opened 4 packs and I think my luck was pretty good so far, let’s see how my luck holds as I continue to buy more packs.

Pack 1- I was a bit disappointed with this as it just had 1 rare and 4 common cards which like the minimum you get from a pack. When I noticed closely I realised the rare card was a summoner which had the option to select between 2 kind of boosts. It was already in demand in the market so it was a good rare card to pull.

Pack 2 - One rare, one common Golf Foil and a common summoner with elements. Now things are getting interesting and I am happy that I already have a gold foil without having to buy it from the market.

Pack 3 - One epic, One rare, One common summoner and One common Gold Foil. My luck seems to be getting better and if I keep getting gold foils at this rate I will be tempted to buy much more packs at one go. Need to control my excitement.

Pack 4 - One rare summoner, One epic, One common summoner. Not bad at all.

I think overall I got really good value cards from these packs I will continue to collect more packs and once I see that I am getting only crappy cards from the packs I will start picking up specific cards from the market.

Cheers,

Sam
