'LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga' Release Date Leaked?

The release date for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been a mystery of varying degrees at different points in time. There was a time when we thought that we would be getting the game on October 20, 2020, just a couple of weeks after the release of Star Wars: Squadrons. When the trailer for the game dropped at gamescom in late August, we saw that it was accompanied by a spring 2021 release date. We got the season, but not a specific date. People have since been speculating about which month of that season we may finally get the game. We have even seen on the Gamestop website that May 31, 2021 is listed as the release date.

Now, people may notice somewhat odd results when they search for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on Amazon. At the moment, December 31, 2021 is listed as the release date for the game’s listings on Amazon. This may be confusing to some who saw the trailer and saw spring 2021 as the concrete estimation of the game’s release time. In an age when we are getting delays of films and other media due to the pandemic, one might even expect that it is possible for the game to get delayed even further.

However, we must not jump to conclusions right away. It is very possible that December 31, 2021 is simply a placeholder date for the Amazon listings before a concrete release date is settled. It is not out of the ordinary for Amazon to do this with one of their products. Plus, as of the writing of this article, Gamestop’s listing still has LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga attached to the date May 31, 2021. This particular date in itself seemed simply like a placeholder release date set at what one might perceive as pretty much the end of spring.

While some may take a glance and worry that the game has been delayed and that it could be a longer time before we get to play it, I think it is too soon to grow used to that idea. In fact, I believe that it is safe to say that the game is currently still intended for a spring 2021 release date. As it is, the game is already far out from the previously expected October release date, though that gap works to the benefit of Star Wars gamers, giving them more time to focus on the newly released Star Wars: Squadrons. Both games will have their time in the sun. The December 31, 2021 listings may look concerning at a glance, but I feel very confident that we can still expect this game to be available come springtime. Before we know it, we will have a specific release date announced officially, and that will finally settle the score, giving us an idea of when we can see the game in stores. These games are fun, so hopefully we will not have to wait too long.
