Could This Be A Clue?

The animated Lego video games are some of the most popular video games out there, with such games set within the worlds of Harry Potter, Ninjago, Marvel, and, of course, Star Wars. The LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga game is one of the most highly anticipated LEGO video games right now.

There has not been a LEGO Star Wars video game since The Force Awakens, four years ago. With five other video games already exploring the Star Wars universe, this new video game by developer Traveller’s Tales, needed to be unique. And they needed to make sure that they brought in as much as they could from those movies that were not represented in Lego form.

Fans have been waiting a long time for this game to come out. The date of release was pushed back due to COVID-19 disruptions. It was originally supposed to come out in the fall of 2020, specifically October 20. But that date was soon removed. It was recently revealed that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will not be released until spring of next year, much to the disappointment of many. Previously, the official Lego website did have a 2021 release, but with no date or month attached. However, it was soon amended to say that the release was “Coming Soon." We do not yet know when its release date may be, but a rumor has recently surfaced that may actually prove to be the real release date for the game.

Twitter user @baniaeK found and shared evidence from a Polish video game site that shows a pre-order date and option for the Xbox version of the game. The rumored release date for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga reads, “Premiera: 2021-05-31,” which is May 31, 2021.

We do not know for certain if this is the actual release date for the game. It could be a placeholder since video games are typically released on Tuesdays instead of Mondays. However, with this leak, it seems likely that Lucasfilm is looking at a date around May 31, 2021. On the surface, that seems very close to summer, if not in the time period that some come to think of as summer when it comes to releases like this. Perhaps the release could be earlier in the month, but we do not know for certain.

COVID-19 has affected the gaming industry as well as the movie industry, and as such, we cannot know for certain whether the date will be moved again. However, there seems to be a very strong chance at this point that the May release will stick. This means that fans do have a potential date to look forward to, but that an eight-month wait is still in effect.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga does, however, promise to be worth the wait. This game, unlike previous installments, will not force players to follow the story chronologically. In the past, many of the these video games played through the story. The Harry Potter ones play through Harry’s years at Hogwarts. The Lord of the Rings ones played through the quest in Middle-earth. But not so with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Traveller’s Tales confirmed that game players will be able to choose their preferred adventure through a series of options. Sort of like a Choose Your Own Adventure novel. Along with this option, there are many more characters than in any of the previous Star Wars games, so there will be more characters to interact with and possibly choose from. Because the game will include storylines from all nine saga films, Traveller’s Tales wanted to make sure that instead of playing through chronologically, fans can pick whatever episode they want to start with, and then go from there instead of having to play through the whole game in order. They can prioritize which characters and vehicles they unlock first in which episode and then go from there.

The gameplay trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga shows impressive graphics and exciting action sequences, which are essential to a really good video game. Along with the trailer for the gameplay, it was revealed that there will also be a deluxe edition, which is going to feature a unique Darth Vader-focused cover.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be available on PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X.
