Among Us - this game has certainly made a mark in the history of the gaming industry. Introduced 2 years back, this game didn't have the millionth of its popularity that it has today. But, one fine day, in the year 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic was still at large, a random live streamer plays this unpopular game in his live stream and it hits off immediately among the crowds. In the span of a few weeks, this game crossed millions of downloads on the Play Store and App Store. Both casual gamers and hardcore gamers, equally enjoyed the game, while YouTube gaming channels were minting millions of views streaming this game live. YouTube channels like PewDiePie, Mr. Beast Gaming, Corpse Husband, Disguised Toast, Carryislive, ZMDE Animations posted regular content based on Among Us for many months. Millions of people played this game regularly and even watched their favorite streamers play the game to learn new tactics. People could form their own rooms and play the game with their friends while chatting over Discord. The only reason this game picked off at once was that it had a completely new concept based on betrayal and intelligence.

This game basically revolves around a spaceship that has crewmates and impostors. The impostors who are at a lower number than crewmates are assigned the task to work alone or mutually to kill all the other crewmates and win the game, while the task of the crewmates is to vote out the impostor during voting sessions. This gets interesting because the impostors have special perks like Sabotaging the spaceship or hiding inside Vents after killing a crewmate so that the other crewmates don't suspect the killer. Originally, there were three maps available, namely Skeld, Miramar, and Polus, but recently a fourth map was also introduced called the Airship.

In-Game:

Play online or over local wifi with 4-15 players as you attempt to hold your spaceship together and return to civilization. But beware...as there may be an alien impostor aboard!

One crewmate has been replaced by a parasitic shapeshifter. Their goal is to eliminate the rest of the crew before the ship reaches home. The Impostor will sabotage the ship, sneak through vents, deceive, and frame others to remain anonymous and kill off the crew.

While everyone is fixing up the ship, no one can talk to maintain anonymity. Once a body is reported, the surviving crew will openly debate who they think The Impostor is. The Impostor's goal is to pretend that they are a member of the crew. If The Impostor is not voted off, everyone goes back to maintaining the ship until another body is found. If The Impostor is voted off, the crew wins!

Among Us had seen a quick rise in popularity due to a combination of multiple factors. It's a unique game with an interesting asymmetrical multiplayer, it's easy to learn thanks to a simple premise, and it's available for (almost) free on a variety of popular platforms, including PC and mobile.

After about 3-4 months of extreme popularity, the game has lost its momentum and previous glory. The developers tried to revive the game by introducing the new map but it didn't have much impact on the scenario. Some gamers also developed interesting mods, in which many new characters were introduced, which further intensified the game, but even those streamers have moved on to different games due to the fast declining popularity of Among Us.

As it is rightly said that nothing lasts forever, Among Us has also lost its user base but still, some loyal gamers continue to play this game during their free time and enjoy themselves to the fullest!
