As the 8 teams have locked their retention list, the IPL 2022 auction will be hosted in Bangalore on Feb 12 and 13. Two new teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be participating in the Auction 2022. It's a chance for all the teams to build a new team.

BCCI introduced new auction rules and game format, as per the 10 IPL teams. The format will be similar to the IPL 2011 format.

Rules of IPL 2022 Mega Auction

As there are new teams added in the IPL 2022, BCCI released the rules of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

An IPL team is allowed to include two foreign and three Indian players; with a total number of retentions that must not exceed four.

As per the rules a team can either go for one foreign player + three Indian players or two Indian players + 2 foreign players. The total should be 4 only.

A team is not allowed to have more than two, even if there is a cap on the retained uncapped players.

The player's pursuit will be of Rs. 90 crore this year and will be an incremental hike up to Rs. 95 crore - Rs. 100 crore in two subsequent years.

If any team tries to retain four players then, it has to make an investment of 40-45% of its pursuit; 36-40% less than the team that is not planning to retain any player.

The two new teams will have the liberty to pick three players outside after taking permission for two foreign players. This is allowed only when no big-name Indian players are available.

Teams are unlikely to use the Right to Match cards at the auction.

Format and Guidelines of IPL 2022
