The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially declared the schedule for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 during a prestigious 'Countdown to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023' event in Mumbai.

This grand tournament will feature ten teams, making it the largest Cricket World Cup. The matches will occur across ten venues from 5th October to 19th November. The opening match and the final will be held at the esteemed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Among the other nine venues, we have Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will join Hyderabad in hosting the practice games.

The tournament will commence with an eagerly anticipated clash between defending champions England and New Zealand, the finalists of the 2019 World Cup, in Ahmedabad. In another captivating match, India's host nation will face five-time winners Australia in Chennai on 8th October.

Ahmedabad will also witness intense battles between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on the 15th of October and Australia and England on the 4th of November.

Eight teams have earned their spot in this 46-day event through the Cricket World Cup Super League, while the final two positions will be filled by the finalists of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which will be held in Zimbabwe.

The tournament will maintain the round-robin format from the previous edition, with all teams competing against each other in a total of 45 league matches.

Six-day matches will start at 10:30 AM Indian Standard Time (IST), while all other matches, including the knockout stages, will be day-night fixtures beginning at 2:00 PM IST.

The top four teams will advance to the semifinals, which will be held in Mumbai on 15th November and Kolkata on 16th November. Both the semifinals and the final will have reserve days.

Geoff Allardice, the Chief Executive of the ICC, expressed his delight, stating, "We are pleased to unveil the schedule for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, marking a momentous occasion leading up to this global event.

We anticipate the participation of hundreds of millions of fans worldwide, making it the greatest Men's Cricket World Cup ever. We expect a unique and electric atmosphere in India, culminating in the victorious team lifting the trophy at Ahmedabad's world's largest cricket stadium."

The passion and enthusiasm for cricket in India are unparalleled.

Both local and international fans are eagerly looking forward to the tournament's return to India, especially after our team became the first to lift the trophy on home soil in 2011. I extend my best wishes to all the participating teams, and I eagerly anticipate hosting another thrilling tournament."
