In horizon forbidden West we play as Aloy as she braves the forbidden West - a majestic but dangerous frontier that conceals mysterious new threats. Horizon Forbidden West is a 2022 action role-playing game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. A sequel to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn, it is an open world single-player video game set in a post-apocalyptic version of the Western United States. In Horizon Forbidden West we are introduced to many new machines and enemies. Apparently Sylens again start some really nasty stuff to happen and now a blight is killing off every living thing and only Aloy can stop it.

After playing for dozens of hours there has not been too many changes since Horizon Zero Dawn but Aloy is more adapt at swimming, fighting and climbing. The visuals are amazing and Aloy doesn't head to the Forbidden West immediately, not until she realizes a signal coming form that direction. Her attempt is foiled by a tribe that controls that passage who end up in a brutal civil war as one faction is understandable still angry about the Red Raids that were happening in Horizon Zero Dawn.

In Horizon Forbidden West, Aloy now has friends that are willing to aid her on her journey instead of being an outcast and I have not seen any members of her clan, the Nora, show up yet. The enemies are more formidable and I will let you play the game and find out why.

You will find something interesting no matter which direction you travel in Horizon Forbidden West and this time Aloy gets a nice glider that can act as a shield. Tallnecks, Cauldrons and the like make their return and just like Horizon Zero Dawn these puzzles are actually fun and not annoying. The puzzles in Horizon Forbidden West are not frustrating as you may find in some games.

The battle between the natural and firmly unnatural is everywhere to see in the Forbidden West. It drills down through many levels to what the Horizon series is all about, from the vines strangling the remains of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge to the animal-like man-made machines that wander the land, tracing the footsteps of their long-dead creators. But this clash also takes place inside Aloy, who (spoilers for the first game) herself is a complicated combination of human and synthetic life. It's what drives the plot along and lends a personal touch to what could be otherwise ungainly themes if handled without the obvious care that developer Guerrilla Games has put into Forbidden West.

Aloy does not have much time in Horizon Forbidden West to complete her mission but you will not feel pressured by any timed missions. Guerrilla Games did an excellent job with the puzzles, visuals, character development and combat in this game. I have been playing Horizon Forbidden West on my PS4 without any performance issues and I do hope you check out and subscribe to both my YouTube and Twitch channels. Horizon Forbidden West does not suffer from crashes or frame rate problems that I have encountered in some other games such as Dying Light 2. Dying Light 2 is still a good game but Horizon Forbidden West is more enjoyable.

Anyone that enjoyed Horizon Zero Dawn will certainly enjoy Horizon Forbidden West. You can make this game as challenging as you want and change the difficulty setting anytime you chose. Aloy can easily be one of my favorite game characters. She is strong and very smart being a clone of the scientist that created Zero Dawn. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I do.
