Game Review: Marvel's Spiderman

The upcoming game of the century, Marvel's Spiderman, has been confirmed to be released next year in 2018. The developers from Insomniac are currently developing the most new and improved Spiderman game ever! The sad part is, this awesome game will only play on PS4 and not other gaming platforms :(.

What to expect from this amazing game? We all know that our neighborhood Spiderman is one of the most popular Marvel heroes in recent memory. On the other hand, to play as Spiderman is on a whole different level.

In this game, players will play as a 23-year-old, experienced Spiderman (Peter Parker), who will have the ability to utilize his environment and see where enemies are coming in order for Spiderman to track them down and defend his territory. Even though Spiderman is more experienced, he will face tough challenges ahead of him.

In order for Spiderman to overcome these challenges, he will have to fight through enemies that are in his path and go to-to-toe with the biggest villain of them all.

Now we all know that Spiderman has had a rich history of storylines with tough enemies he faced, such as Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Venom, and Sandman to name a few. One of my all-time rivalries of Spiderman was against Green Goblin, whom is known as Norman Osborn, a rich industrialist and founder of "Oscorp" (which was working towards making supply weapons).

Norman Osborn has a son named Harry Osborn, who is friends with Peter Parker (Spiderman). Meanwhile, General Slocum of the United States Army, visits Oscorp to see the results of their new super soldier formula. When one of Norman's top scientists, Dr. Stromm, warns him the formula is unstable, General Slocum threatens to pull all of the military's funding from Oscorp.

Later that night, Norman exposes himself to the formula as its first human trial, gains superhuman strength and agility but is driven partially insane which he kills Stromm and steals two other Oscorp inventions, an exoskeleton suit and a jet glider. That was the birth of Green Goblin, who enjoys terrorizing innocent people for his enjoyment.

Long story short, the Green Goblin was led to his demise by his own jet glider, thanks to the Spider-man's "Spidey Sense" ability, using his awareness to doge the jet glider from behind him.

This was the reason why the rivalry between Spiderman and the Green Goblin is a classic. In Spiderman 3, Norman Osborn's son, Harry Osborn, inherited his father's aura and character, but had new equipped weapons. In the end, he too had the same fate like his father, having to die by his own jet glider like his father before him.

That was a very sad moment when both Peter and Mary-Jane came to see their beloved friend Harry for one last time, until he died in front of them.

Anyways, let's get back to the new Spiderman game shall we?

In this game, though, he will face his most fearful enemy yet and his name is "Mr. Negative." Mr. Negative has a positive side as Martin Lee, who runs homeless shelters in the city.

However, he has a negative side that drives him to become the leader of the inner demons. Both Spiderman and Mr. Negative will be on a collision course during their battles and who will survive in the end?

Will it be the heroic Spiderman? Or the evil and manipulative Mr. Negative?
