Fortnite: Live Event Review

Finally! The long awaited and twice delayed live event happened! Oh boy did it cause a stir. At 7:00pm British Standard Time, millions of players logged on to watch the "Doomsday Device" get activated. Although many weren't able to access the live event directly and had to resort to live streams and content creators , it is definitely the most talked about event right now in the gaming community as it reached 1.5 million viewers of Twitch!

What Happened?

Firstly, Midas activated the "Doomsday Device" and one by one Tesla like towers began to rise from the open hatches found beneath The Agency. As they reached the height capacity the device itself began to rise from the centre and decided to blow half of The Agency with it. The device emitted energy which the towers absorbed, after a few moments they began to attack the storm circle and push it back as well as allowing players to float and view the event from all angles.

Secondly, As the storm is getting pushed back; we are transported to an office like setting which many players believe is the Ghost Headquarters (opposing alliance to Shadow) . In the office we saw top secret files on a desk along with pictures of Midas, Lynx (Season 7 Chapter 1) and a mystery woman. As we walk around the room we hear a voice from outside that talks about the device being unstable and how it might be connected to the "Loop". We are transported to the office before this section but nothing happens and it only last for about three seconds.

Thirdly, we are transported back to the map where everything is calm; as players allowed to build and equip weapons again...or so we thought; as sunshine and rainbows covered the screen the device emitted a secondary explosion which again transported us back to the office. The voice behind the door finally has a face and it belongs to the famous Jonesy! the much loved default who has been with us since the game's arrival. He talks to us and is amazed that we can hear him, before we have chance to find out more we are thrown back to the map.

Finally, the device has finally come to its demise but it made massive storm changes, the storm is no longer there, instead we are surrounded by a Tsunami! And the game carries on as normal.

What does this mean?

The event has left us with many unanswered questions! such as:

Who is the mystery woman found on the files?

What happened to Midas and the other Agents?

What changes will happen to the map in Season 3?

What was the "Loop" that Jonesy was talking about?

All we know for certain is that when a player is caught up in the Tsunami which now acts as the storm, they can no longer fight, build, heal or use other consumables such as Launch Pads as well as boats and helicopters getting instantly destroyed. We can only swim! The wave does actually push the player to the edge and throw them out but it might cause fall damage.

There are rumours that Midas was part of the Ghost Agency but discovered something he shouldn't have and decided to blow up the Agency and switch the shadow alliance and that Jonesy is actually the controller of the storms.

Season 3 might introduce an underwater theme to the map as well as underwater locations but nothing is confirmed as of yet. Season 3 is due to arrive on Wednesday 17th June.
