Its been one heck of a month for Fortnite, as season 2 has hit and already annoyed a large amount of it players but at the same time brought many back. So let's delve in deeper and analyse this season.

Theme:

Welcome to the Agency!

As usual each new season has a new battle pass and a new theme, we have had Knights, Tropical and Winter, even had a Space theme!. This season is all about Secrets Agents! With this theme, the new battle pass is amazing! We have new glider designs, such as ones you can now surf instead of holding, Gun skins that react with every shot you fire. Brand new skins that come with non reversible skin alternatives: Team Ghost or Team Shadow, but be careful for whichever allegiance you choose you cannot go back. My favourite thing about the battle pass is that the battle pass now comes with its own lobby, where you can view agent profiles, view the battle pass, view challenges in an easier way and even locate secret easter eggs!

Map Changes

Not only have we got new locations to explore, but each location has its own Boss, which if you eliminate you can use their Mythic weapon, which are : Midas' Tommy Gun, Brutus' Mini-gun, Skye's Scar AND Grapple gun, TNTina's KaBoom Bow and finally Moewscles' Peow Peow Rifle (Heavy AR). You can find the said Bosses at these locations

  • Brutus: The Grotto
  • Midas: The Agency (Hot drop)
  • TNTina: The Rig (Yeah great idea! put a whole load of explosives on an Oil Rig)
  • Meowscles: The Yacht
  • Skye: The Shark

A word of warning though. Each of these locations have henchman which many have complained about as they are too strong, have pinpoint accuracy and can pop up from anywhere. You can blend in by disguising yourself using phonebooths that are located around the map, but you still need to knock the henchman in order to open up special caches as they use ID scanners.

Maya

Along with new skins, you can now design your own character who is called Maya! Each week she will have challenges which you can complete in order to unlock a new upgrade for her such as: Hair, Tattoos, Shirt, Pants, Boots and many others. I love this idea as it allows us to be creative and create our own Fortnite characters as well as show off our combinations. The only problem with this, is that once you have chosen your upgrade you cant reverse it...so choose wisely.

Deadpool!

Yep...im serious Deadpool has his own little room located in the battlepass lobby and his own weekly challenges that you can complete. It is unclear as to why he is here as a playable skin hasn't been released nor does he have his own LTM. Hopefully he will have more of a purpose later in the season, as I am very eager to find out! BRING OUT THE CHIMICHANGAS!

Weapons

Its about time that Fortnite brought back old weapons as well as introduce new ones. The Heavy Sniper and Silenced Sniper have made a return along with the Suppressed SMG and AR. But every weapon has their weaknesses! E.g: the Silenced Sniper has a max damage of 95 when hitting a body shot, other snipers do 100+, the new proximity mine only does 50 damage and can be very easily spotted due to a high beeping noise.

Another problem with the weapons is the Mythic spread, due to them having a high rapid fire, players have reported it has become a "Spam fest" where the player just constantly and consistently holds the trigger and just fires away destroying builds along with hopes and dreams of a Victory Royale.

So long... old friend

A major change that console players are extremely unhappy is that Legacy Controls are being vaulted! for those who don't know, Legacy controls are the settings that a controller player used before the chapter 2 advanced settings came out. Legacy controls allowed us to carry over our pre-set settings without having to do trial and error with the new advanced ones.

The vaulting of legacy controls means that PC players will now have even more of an advantage over console payers. This has led to players leaving and Epic receiving a large amount of complaints, it is yet unclear if Epic will vault this then make adjustments to aim assist to help balance it out. If not then I'm afraid Epic will have a major problem on their hands. I've managed to find settings that work for me so I don't have to worry about Legacy being removed, but I'm sure there are players out there weeping into their controller praying for a brighter future.

So far this season has been quite interesting and I'm sure there are loads more to come. A time progresses Fortnite will continue to change and we will have new content to explore. But for now, its time to return to The Agency and prepare for the next set of challenges! If you have not checked out the Season 2 trailer you can find here:
