Elden Ring Review

In this article I will do my best to review From Software's newest game, Elden Ring. In Elden Ring we play as a Tarnished that will journey between where the Golden Order has been broken and unravel the mysteries of the Elden Ring's power. Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by From Software, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Elden Ring keeps true to From Software's form of difficult and challenging games but this time it is set in an open world. Bosses and mini bosses are spread throughout the landscape and you have to find map fragments to unlock parts of the map. Don't think that those map fragments will be easy to get since there usually enemies that want to put you into retirement.

Elden Ring has a nice little dragon that does not move and putting it down nets you a nice 75,000 runes which you need to level up. Make sure you are careful when selecting your class and the other attributes such as vigor, stamina and are the same as they are in earlier Souls-borne games. I recommend upgrading stamina as much as you can.

The atmosphere and detail of the map and the areas are breath taking and you can get lost in fun just exploring the map and Elden Ring does not hold you hand to tell you where to go. Make sure to unlock sites of grace which are found throughout your map so you can respawn when you die, which you will do a lot.

To set the stage, all you know from the outset is that you play as a “Tarnished” of no renown, blessed by grace, and are compelled to make the journey to The Lands Between and become an Elden Lord. You will randomly meet a lot of interesting characters so make sure to explore but be careful. You may end up taking an elevator ride or be transported to an area where you have to face off with a creature that is not too happy you have arrived or perhaps it is happy and wants you for it's lunch.

Elden Ring has more content than most players will ever find. I have heard some drop over a 100 hours and still find new things. In my opinion, Elden Ring is like Skyrim in the since that no matter which direction you head you will find something to do and you do need to level up before the first mandatory boss encounter. When it comes to difficulty it reminds me more of Bloodborne in the way Elden Ring throws multiple tough enemies your way and the difficulty is somewhat similar to Sekiro. Remember if I can handle this game and other From Software games than you can too.

One of the things I liked the best about Elden Ring is that you are thrown into the open world almost immediately and not after hours of playing. Getting through the first area takes patients as does the rest of Elden Ring and any From Software game.

Elden Ring is the first Souls game with a proper jump button and levelling up is easy. Instead of souls you will be using runes to upgraded your character in Elden Ring. I went with hero and as with other Souls game, strength, vigor and endurance I max out while I get dexterity up to 25. With those stats I can wield any powerful weapon and just keep chopping away at bosses and bad guys. The enemies do not scale with you level but each area will have harder enemies.
