There are sadly still several months to wait until DragonBall FighterZ is released in February 2018, which gives us some time to talk about all the game's pertinent details — namely the character roster, which is its most talked about aspect.
Only six #DragonBallFighterZ characters were revealed in the game's initial announcement, leaving fans to guess which other mainstays will join Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, Cell, Buu and Frieza. The good news is that we now know of several additions joining these characters, thanks to an issue of V-Jump magazine.
Yamcha and Tien were recently revealed in V-Jump, thanks to images of them taking on Goku, but they weren't the only characters spotted in the issue. Check out the image below for more:
As you can see, V-Jump displayed the first official image of Android 21, a brand new character to the franchise. Android 21 is extremely interesting because the Android threat has been nonexistent since the conclusion of the Cell Saga in Dragon Ball Z. After the more prominent Androids were defeated at the end of that story arc, it appeared as though the Androids would become a thing of the past.
But it looks like Android 21 will be taking up Dr. Gero's cause after the apparent defection of her former comrades.
Just going off of the devious look she has on her face, 21 is probably going to become the newest Android villain for the Z-Fighters to take on. Since we don't know where her allegiances lie, it's fairly safe to assume she's one of Dr. Gero's creations. 21 might even have the same directives that were implanted in the other Androids, mainly the objective of killing Goku. They were all created in hopes of eliminating the Z-Fighters, so it's feasible for Android 21 to have been created for a similar purpose. If so, we could see the Android debacle restarted when Dragon Ball FighterZ is released.
Another question we're left with is whether or not Android 21 has a bigger future ahead of her — perhaps in the current anime, #DragonBallSuper? The Z-Fighters are going to need a new threat to combat once the Universal Survival Tournament is over, and Android 21 is the ideal fit for that role.
Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released in February 2018.
