Stars Hold Off Seattle, Even Series With Kraken at 1-1

In his second game back, Joe Pavelski wasn't the only one who scored, and the Dallas Stars evened the series against Seattle.

All four of the Stars' goals in Game 1's 5-4 overtime defeat came from Pavelski. It was the 38-year-old forward's first game following a severe head injury sustained in the opening game of the Minnesota series in April.

However, the Stars overcame an overtime setback at home in the series opener and evened the series before travelling, exactly as they did in the first round against Minnesota, this time with Pavelski.

Sunday night in Seattle is Game 3.

Jordan Eberle likewise scored for the Kraken.

This season, Johnston, who has lived with Pavelski's family, whiffed at the puck before whipping it around and putting it in Grubauer's well-positioned stick to set up his mentor's power play goal. With 3:03 remaining in the middle period, Pavelski scored the Stars' third goal of the game, putting them ahead 3-1.

Johnston stated, "It was pretty cool to be able to have an assist on his goal." Just a nice time."

Following the conclusion of a power play earlier in the second period, Johnston scored his second playoff goal for a 1-0 lead. His regular-season total of 24 goals tied him for the NHL rookie record.

Colin Mill operator had made the effort from the highest point of the circle to one side of the net after he had gotten a cross-ice pass from Max Domi from the contrary circle. After the puck ricocheted off Grubauer's chest, Johnston knocked in his own rebound after getting his blade on the puck first.

Dadonov, who was acquired at the trade deadline, scored his fourth playoff goal by skating around the net and sending the puck over the line. This gave the team a 2-0 lead and was the middle of their three goals in the second period.

69 career playoff goals set by Pavelski set a record for players born in the United States. That ranks third among active players, behind only Sidney Crosby's 71 and Alex Ovechkin's 72. Stars commander Jamie Dixon and Kraken defenseman Jamie Oleksiak both got holding punishments in the game's initial moment after the previous colleagues were tangled together on the ice in the corner. Oleksiak, the Stars' first-round pick in the 2011 who played pieces of nine seasons in Dallas, was chosen by the Kraken in the extension draft quite a while back.
