Growing Your Population Through Charisma

Fallout Shelter: Radio Studio Using Charisma to Attract Dwellers

Players of Fallout Shelter are aware of the importance of SPECIAL stats within the game; Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck. These stats help to increase the output of resources needed to maintain your shelter. Charisma has a unique function within the vault to encourage the growth of your vault.

What is Charisma?

Charisma is key in raising the most important resource within your vault; the dwellers. Charisma makes your dwellers more likable or attractive to others, aiding in growing the population of dwellers.

Why Grow Your Population?

Dwellers are needed to maintain resources, explore the Wasteland, complete Quests from the Overseer, and continue your journey in unlocking new rooms within the vault. Dwellers preserve the wellness of the vault, helping to supply power, water, and food resources. The dwellers also help to craft new weapons and clothing, creating more vital stats and higher damage weapons. Dwellers are also your defense against raider attacks, radroach and mole rat invasions, and fires within the vault.

Using Charisma to Grow Your Population

Charisma grows your population through two essential means; Quickly building relationships between dwellers to encourage pregnant dwellers, and broadcasting into the Wasteland to attract new dwellers to your vault.

Radio Studio

In order to optimize your chances of attracting new dwellers from the Wasteland, place dwellers with high charisma stats in the Radio Studio. High charisma dwellers placed in the Radio Studio increase the chances of broadcasts bringing high-quality survivors with higher levels and stats in from the Wasteland, although it remains a gamble overall. When new dwellers find your vault, they may also bring with them high-value weapons, clothing, and occasionally pets.

On the other hand, if you put dwellers into the Radio Studio with low charisma stats, you take a higher risk. Instead of attracting new dwellers, you take the chance of attracting more attacks by both Raiders and Deathclaws.

Pregnancy

Fallout Shelter: Pregnant Dweller in Residence

Dwellers with high Charisma stats encourage quicker pregnancies between dwellers. This means dwellers can get back to their roles in the vault more quickly. Higher stats within the pregnancy also means producing children with higher stats from the beginning of their lives.

Other Uses of Charisma Stats

Charisma stats can also impact the speed of other actions in-game. Similar to how charisma stats can impact how quickly dwellers get pregnant, charisma can impact the speed of service in the Barbershop.

Barbershop

Fallout Shelter: Barbershop Made Faster With Charisma

The barbershop or Salon once upgraded, allows you to customize the facial features and hair color of your dwellers. The barbershop won’t alter your stats, but it allows for fun customizations of your favorite dwellers. Those with higher charisma stats will move through the barbershop customization process faster than those with lower charisma stats.

Raising Your Charisma Stats

Most dwellers begin with relatively low stats. However, this doesn’t mean that you don’t have options to grow or temporarily boost your charisma stat.

Clothing

Aside from vault jumpsuits, clothing comes with stat boosts. Clothing comes in three tiers; common, rare, and legendary. Each tier of clothing comes with varying levels of stat boosts, sometimes boosting 1-4 SPECIAL stats. While some clothing is unisex, some pieces of clothing may only be worn by men or only women.

Training Charisma Stats in the Lounge

Fallout Shelter: Training Charisma Stat in the Lounge

Dwellers have the option to train Charisma in the Lounge once your vault reaches 40 dwellers. Up to 3 lounges can be placed next to each other horizontally to better maximize how many dwellers can be training at one time. Each point that dwellers raise in the Lounge will take longer to obtain.
